Pomni is making a terrible life choice. But hey, maybe they can get a whole new tolerable Jax out of the deal, so I guess they can just let Pomni cook a little here ...Jax looked at Pomni as if she’d just casually mentioned she was planning to throw herself off the nearest cliff. “I tell you I could basically abstract at any moment and your solution is … what?? That I should date you??”
“Because holing up alone in the dark and stewing in your feelings until you mutate is a better idea?” she asked flatly. “I am so tired of fighting to be allowed to be close to you. Especially when I care about you and I’m pretty sure you also care about me.” She flopped onto her back in frustration, still holding his hand in hers. “Even though I don’t know what the right thing to do for you is … I love you, and I’m going to keep you from losing your mind in here if it kills me.”

Pomni and Jax haven't spoken since their fight a week ago. She is tired of them avoiding each other.
When her initial talk with him doesn’t go as planned, she decides to act like everything is normal, and so does he.
When he starts being nicer than usual to her, resulting in an exhausting back and forth attitude, she puts distance between them until he can figure out his feelings. He ignores them, as Jax does.
