“Captain Mithrun?” Kabru asks in a croak, throat still feeling like it’s on fire. He hasn’t sunk far enough to drink fountain water yet, but it’s a near miss.
“My body feels weird,” Mithrun announces, equally hoarse. He’s half-floating in the pool, his feet up on the ledge. His good eye is bloodshot and watering, tears dripping down into his hair where it fans out around him in silver streaks. There’s a lilypad hanging over one shoulder, and a very small frog sitting on his forehead, staring at Kabru.
Kabru stares back, disconcerted.
