Summary
A small whimper and hustling in the nearby bushes stopped his steps.
Lan Wangji peers closely at the bushes, his eyes narrowing in alertness as he pushes down the small trees in the area. Much to his surprise, instead of rodents, birds, or wild rabbits like he had expected, it was a medium-sized fox whimpering in pain. The fox looked so pitiful, with almost every inch of its skin covered in deep wounds, painting the nearby areas and leaves red. Lan Wangji can see the blood trail before the fox collapsed in the bushes.
