As Alhaitham drones on, the color returns to Kaveh’s face. Though this time, Alhaitham can’t quite tell if the light pink on the older man’s cheeks and ears are a result of anger, or something else.

“Go sit on the divan.”“…huh?”
Kaveh doesn’t give his roommate the chance to think or readjust.
“Don’t pretend like you didn’t hear me. If you wanna play this game Alhaitham, fine. Go sit on the divan.”

Who’s he kidding? This is the same man who grumbles when bringing Kaveh a cup of coffee.
But he does bring it.
And once that thought hits Kaveh, the words fall out of his mouth before he can register them. “A blanket, if you have another one.”
“A blanket?” Alhaitham repeats.
Fuck.
Excuses. Something, anything. “Mine’s basically a sheet since I bought the cheapest one available—” What is he saying? Yes, he has been feeling cold as of late but that’s not something he can’t handle. “Actually, I can buy another one tomorrow since it’s the weekend.”
What use is the backtrack if Alhaitham notices it anyway?
“Save that for rent. I do have another one.”
Or, 5 times Alhaitham lies to and deceives Kaveh, and the 1 time he realises he's never needed to.

Summary
Lambard sets a drink in front of Kaveh. “Fella across the bar said you were cute,” he says, gesturing discreetly to the Eremite across the room before returning to his post.
He’s not bad looking. He’s tall with beautiful, sun-skinned skin and gray hair braided back; it spills down his back in one braid. Their eyes meet, and Kaveh smiles, sipping the fruit cocktail he is presented with. The Eremite is no Al-Haitham, but he’s tall, big, and more than enough for tonight. If push comes to shove, Kaveh can just pretend.
Fuck it, there’s no harm in flirting. It’ll be a good way to get Al-Haitham off his mind.
