Summary
While interning with Rafael Luna, Alex figures out that Jeffrey Richards behavior is less than acceptable. He creates a plan to expose Richards’ behavior, and in doing so, gets threatened by Richards. Alex goes into Witness Protection as a result and leaves behind everything he knows. He assumes a new identity and plans to stay to himself until things blow over. He wasn’t planning to meet Henry, who he has to keep the secret from. He also wasn’t planning to fall in love in the process.

Summary

Buck doesn't do therapy in person. Buck doesn't talk about his 1.0 days. Buck doesn't talk about his past sex addiction. What happened was consensual, and his fault, and the team clearly agreed, because they had joked about it. It's fine. It doesn't bother him anymore.
The Los Angeles courts don't quite agree. When probationary firefighter Victor Santana of Station 153 presses charges against Dr. Wells, the team come to realize just how deeply she hurt Buck - and how much Buck hasn't been dealing with it.

Buck takes a sip of wine to hide his smile. If anyone had bet on which Buckley sibling would become a librarian and which would become a firefighter, Buck is pretty sure they would have lost their money. But he's happy where he is, and there's something he loves about Maddie as a firefighter. She talks like the guys he lived with after Peru, coworkers referred to by nothing but last names and embarrassing nicknames, and it's kind of perfect, honestly. He hasn't talked to his mom since Maddie enrolled in the academy, but he assumes steam comes out of her ears whenever she thinks about it.
"He's the other probie, right?" Buck asks. Diaz and Maddie went through training together, so the name is more familiar than the others. She was glad to get assigned to the same station as him.
"Yeah. I think he could use someone like Carla, he's having some trouble."

When they sleep, Henry keeps his own body between Alex and the door. He keeps Alex crowded against the wall to keep him covered. They grow closer as the time passes. Henry tells Alex about his family, how his dad was in movies until he got sick. How his sister is his best friend, but his brother is annoying. He’s not even sure if his dad is still alive- he didn’t have much time to begin with. Alex tells Henry about his parents constantly fighting. He’s sure they’re headed for divorce, but Alex was the only reason they put up with each other. He talks about June, everything she’s done for him, and their friend Nora who just moved in down the street. Alex learns that Henry is from London, but was only in Texas because there was a specialist here who could help his dad.
“I’m sure we won’t be here much longer. My mom has a lot of connections- she works at the capitol.”
Henry just smiles a bit sadly. “I’m sure they’ll find us,” he whispers.

Summary
He knows he could have called Maddie and she would have been there, though the memory of her disappointment last time stopped him. As for everyone else—even if he weren’t prohibited from talking to them by his lawyer, Buck doubts anyone would have come. The last time they talked was when they ran into each other in the grocery store a week back, and, since Buck is not eager for a repeat of that interaction, he doesn’t even consider calling anyone in to hold his hand for what is, he tells himself, probably just another little blip on his road back to the 118.
He is able to convince himself of this up until the moment Dr. Gutierrez walks into his room and says, “Well, Evan, you just can’t seem to do anything the easy way, can you?”
Because, as it turns out, there is a circumstance under which a tiny clot that doesn’t cause you to vomit blood in front of all of your friends and family is worse than three big ones that do: that circumstance is called ‘being on blood thinners.’

“I um… I don’t know,” he admits softly.
“C’mon, Tommy,” Eddie replies.
“No, not like that,” Tommy says, looking back up at Eddie. “Not like I don’t have a real excuse. I don’t know like…like I really don’t know, Eddie. I was drunk. I remember being at the bar with you and the other guys, and joking about you and Evan sparring the next time we were going to train, and then…” He pauses, shakes his head. “Nothing. I woke up in a house I didn’t recognize.”
Eddie stares at him, coffee cup in hand and mouth slack, and Tommy waits for the judgment to come. He’s fully prepared for Eddie to tell him what a dick he his for going home with some other guy and having drunken sex. But Eddie doesn’t speak. Eventually, he’s quiet so long that it makes Tommy uncomfortable.
“Look, I know you’re over there judging me-..”
Eddie blinks a few times, shaking out of his reverie as he lowers his coffee mug to the counter.
“Tommy, man, that’s not cheating,” he states matter-of-factly.

Buck caught Chimney moving to intervene between them but the words were already falling past Buck’s lips before he even realized he was speaking.
“I have a boyfriend.”
Buck stopped when he registered the words.
So, did Chimney before he shot Buck a look over his shoulder like Buck had grown a second head. Probably because, like Buck, Chimney knew that Buck did not have a boyfriend. In fact, he’d been single for a painfully long time since he and Taylor split up. Single and probably very obviously hung up on his best friend who didn’t seem to notice the way Buck would throw himself into oncoming traffic if Eddie asked.

Tommy tells Buck that he isn’t ready and Buck takes it as a challenge.
There is a gay club on the way from Maddie’s to Buck’s and Buck can’t stop his eyes from sticking to the turned-off neon sign as he drives past it - it’s not the first time, he realizes at the same time the car behind him honks. He speeds the rest of the way home but without conscious thought the club’s instagram page ends up on his screen by the end of the night.
It takes a week until he ends up going there though, and his heart pounds with the beat of the music blasting from the speakers. He slides up to the bar with all the confidence he can muster and orders two tequila shots, and then a beer as if that will make it any less obvious that he feels like an imposter standing here.
