Jamal doesn’t point it out. He just likes teasing the other to see it, feeding an addiction that wasn’t feasible, but tempting enough to be unable not to fall victim to it. “You were our best player on Saturday though”, he deflects, still not looking at him. It was the younger boy’s time to freeze, his own ears betraying him just as bad at the words. “Bro, you killed it, don’t doubt it”, he says, trying to play it just as cool. Michael looked at him through his peripheral vision before humming. “Not doubting myself”, he clarifies.
