Almost every time she’s been in a hospital these past few years, had to do with Jay. When he was shot in the shoulder the first time, she’d come to his appointments with him. Then he got shot again, and she nearly lost him. Then when Kim was shot, Jay was her rock, to keep her from spiraling the whole time. Then earlier this year, they were there together for when Hailey was hit in the explosion.
The pattern was, they were always there together.

Hailey sent the message, placing her phone down on the counter, beginning to sip on her coffee, when she heard a knock on her door.
She raised her brow, slowly placing her mug down on the counter. “Who is it?” She yelled across the apartment, staying in place.
An unfamiliar voice echoed through the door, “Is this Hailey Halstead?”
Her heart dropped, had she been holding her coffee pot, it would have shattered onto the ground. She raced towards the door, unlocking and opening it immediately.
And there he stood.

Summary
The chances of meeting the same stranger twice is slim yet Spencer & Aitana manage to do it under unusual (or exceptional) circumstances. The math just doesn't fit there. They wouldn't fit together either. At least that's what they each silently decide when things start getting a little "exceptional" between them. But sometimes all odds can go to hell if something just feels right.
