Matt Engarde never believed much in that quote, but he also never believed he'd hire an assassin to kill his rival, then have said assassin vow to kill him too. Now stuck in prison, Matt is metaphorically swung around like a piñata, murders a man, and is tortured in all sorts of ways, all in the name of character growth.
The only way up is all the way down, right?
