Summary
At one point, the Wright & Co. Law Offices was as much a reflection of Phoenix Wright as the polished badge pinned to his lapel. A thorn in Miles’ side, a reminder of what he could’ve been. Reckless. Brilliant. Free.
“Been a while,” he smirks, and Miles can't help but think there was a time when—regardless how long he was away—the man before him would greet his person with unfettering normalcy. That comfort is absent now; what remains of their familiarity threatens to disperse with one improper show of his hand. "What brings you?"
The building stands before him, unlit, a spectre of what he once thought would shine forever. “Proper etiquette suggests it’s rude to keep guests waiting at your door.”
“You want me to let you in?”
A few strands of Miles’ hair rustle with the wind. “Will you let me?”

Summary
“So that’s it.”
His tone is even—neutral, almost unbearably so. Residual heat from the coffee container bleeds into Miles’ open palms. Thinking it better to feign calm, he brings the cup to his lips and sips.
“You’re in love with somebody, huh?”
What little of the steaming liquid had flooded in veers sharply from his windpipe and into his esophagus; eyes wide with mortification, he whips his head in Wright’s direction. “Must you always jump to conclusions?” he sputters. “It’s nothing of the sort!”
Wright, for his part, is deathly blank in the face of Miles’ objection. Save for the way he slowly hunches over, shoulders curling in to hide his eyes, he shows no signs of having been affected by his outburst.
“It’s alright”—he brings a hand to his nose bridge, pinching lightly—“don’t worry.”
Miles Edgeworth, Phoenix Wright, and a cup of coffee to mask unnecessary feelings.

Summary
“Yesterday,” Nagi mumbles, the rest of his words dying on his tongue. His head is hidden behind his arms, strategically placed so Reo can’t make out the expression on his face. There’s an added measure of security to his evasion—his phone, brightness turned low, audio cranked high—that makes it impossible for Reo to guess what he wants. He drums his fingers against the table.
“Hm? Speak up, Nagi.”
Nagi shifts in his seat. Then, sighing, he tilts his head over the edge of his phone. “Yesterday,” he tries again, “you fell asleep on the table.”
Reo makes a noise in the back of his throat. The room feels strangely warm all of a sudden. “I was tired after practice,” he lies easily. “You’ve done it plenty of times.”
Dust particles float through the open air, landing in troves between the grooves on Reo’s desk. “Yeah, I do.” Nagi pauses. “But do I say your name when I’m asleep too?”
The first time Reo doesn't get what he wants is when Nagi Seishirou walks away from him during Blue Lock's second selection. He's learned to curb his expectations by now, though.
Really, he has.

Summary
An errant strand of jet black hair bobs to and fro as he pores over Miles’ face. "Edgeworth? You with me?"
He’s surrounded by an emulsified blurb of noises: easy laughs, accompanying shouts, a beat. Miles isn’t feeling quite up to a lengthy conversation about his rationale, not when he’s hell bent on convincing himself that Wright is happy, he is happy, that the fire brewing inside of him is a fluke, and that perhaps it was time for him to move forward with his therapy sessions—
“I was asking why you did it.”
If he were to tell Wright that he already knew the answer: that he'd been spurred into action due to his creed, his pursuit of justice, he knows he’d only be propagating a half-truth. A secret by omission. In other words, a lie. “I wanted to help you,” he says, earnestly.
Wright's shoulders rise and fall, an even rhythm. He takes a deep breath in, and the silence scatters. “Why?”
Miles Edgeworth does not long for more than he’s already been given.
Sometimes, though, he thinks about it.

"Hey...so...uh..." Phoenix coughs out, voice scratchy from his most recent line repetitions. It's a small mistake, not unsalvageable. All he has to do is stick to the script. Stick to the script. Stick...
His eyes flick down to his note cards. He swears he’d printed them in his best penmanship, atop one of the library's extra premium desks, but everything is spinning and he feels faintly like he's going to throw up. "Did you uh," he starts, letters swirling in his eyes. "Did...you fall out of heaven...?"
Genius prosecutor-in-training Miles Edgeworth regards him with a blank stare. Phoenix thinks now would be an opportune time for him to locate the nearest possible bridge and promptly jump off of it.

Summary
Reo’s greatest fear is being a marionette: wooden limbs clacking in predetermined ways, controlled in every sway, only destined to follow someone else's instructions. Then, he meets Nagi, and he imagines cutting away these strings and finally becoming free.
He has to die to realize this isn't the case. That this has never been the case, and that Reo is nothing but a blunt instrument in the hands of fate, meant to guide Nagi to go far from his reach.
It’s okay. If it’s Nagi, then he can bear it.

Although I wish this letter finds you in good health, I must admit that you make me quite malaise-ridden. Alas, at any moment you are sighted in the near vicinity, I find my breath arrested and my pulse, an erratic drumbeat against my ribs. This audacious feeling, I can only attest to your unfortunately esteemed presence, and I must request you cease immediately. This burden of unnecessary feelings you have saddled on me will not be tolerated much longer.
Unfortunately and indubitably yours.
When Miles finally looks up, Phoenix is wringing his hands together, worrying his bottom lip between his teeth, and when he glances up to meet Miles’s eyes, he startles a little in his seat.
“So?” he asks urgently, leaning closer to peer at the note again from above. “What’s it say?”
Miles stares at him. “This is in English.”
“...yeah?”
“What about it can you not understand?”

“Wanna go on a date?” Suguru repeats, and although he has nothing to be worried about—it was a prank, so what did Satoru’s response matter? it wasn’t like he’d actually say yes—he can still detect a slight sort of tremor in his words that he hopes Satoru doesn’t pick up on. He coughs. “With me, I mean.”
Satoru’s mouth flaps open and closed. Suguru coughs again. Satoru’s taking an awful long time to answer—maybe it would be best to just reveal the prank now, before Suguru could embarrass himself any further—
“Yes,” Satoru breathes out emphatically, his eyes sparkling with the force of a thousand diamonds. Suguru almost wants to look away, but he can’t seem to move his eyes from Satoru’s beaming expression. “Yes,” Satoru repeats, and all of a sudden, he’s clutching Suguru’s hands in his own, “let’s go right now.”
“Um,” Suguru says. “What?”
