“Is she even pretty enough?!” He cuts me off, his hands now at his sides, and his chin jutting out defiantly. I need to stop finding this guy cute. I’m stealing his flowers.
I take a second to process what he says, and then have to hold back my laughter. He thinks these flowers are for a girlfriend? I don’t think anything about me exactly screams 'I’m dating a lady', or even 'I’m attracted to ladies'. But I suppose I should play along. I’d rather refrain from explaining I’m stealing these flowers to put on the grave of my late mother. That seems like I’m asking for pity.

Summary
James considers himself to be quite bad with words for a good reason. When attempting to explain his feelings towards Alyssa, he slips and unintentionally reveals he had originally planned to kill her. It creates tensions in their relationship as a result after everything seemed to be healing again, and James attempts to fix them once more.

She needs to change tactics.

The message is concise. Alyssa hits send.
When killing herself doesn't work the first time, Alyssa seeks help, in the form of a push-- something to help override that survival instinct, a hand to squeeze. She finds James.

That’s a lie. I’m very ashamed to admit it.
All the same, I have spent a lot of time imagining how I would get Simon Snow into my bed.
I can safely say that this was not one of the scenarios I ever imagined.

This time, Baz really is up to something—he's sneaking around the Weeping Tower and opening a mysterious door that definitely wasn't there before.
Simon and Penny follow him, naturally, and they're shocked to find a room overflowing with all sorts of books, clothes, and miscellany.
But the only thing Simon can focus on is the strange magickal mirror that keeps glinting at him knowingly....“Basil!” Penny calls before I have a chance to yell at him more. “Do you know what this mirror is?”
“Yes,” Baz calls back.
“Are you certain?”
“Yes, Bunce. I’m not a fool,” he groans. He picks up a book, turning it over in his hands before setting it back down. “Did you not see the inscription?”
“Oh, I see it. We read about this in Artefact Studies last year.”
“Exactly.” Baz checks another book, then moves on.
“What?” I say, loud enough Penny can hear me also. “What is it?”
