Mettaton is awfully picky; it's a fact of life. Anyone who's met him, and anyone who hadn’t met him, would know that he's amongst the most finicky, selective, extravagant people imaginable. More often than not, unnecessarily so.
So what baffles Alphys so much, is just why he'd choose Sans.
And don't get her wrong, Alphys loves Sans! They're good friends, and really, she couldn't be happier that he's found what he's looking for- even though nobody could have *possibly* predicted that it would come in the form of a glamourized robot. But─ really, come *on.*

He can’t help but to feel a little caught.
“Leave it to you to ruin the moment,” Impulse teases right back, untangling his arms from around Skizzs neck.
“There, there, don’t be a baby,” he soothes, unhelpfully.
“What happened to ‘your’─”
He doesn’t get a chance to finish.
“Let’s get you back to your team, yeah?”
Impulse does not get back to his team for another few hours.

She’s sitting in their armchair with her legs crossed and arms folded, watching him expectantly. “It’s late,” she says, plainly, sitting up and placing down a cup.
