"Have you not seen the serial killer all over the news?!!!"
The man shrugs. "I don't bother with those unless it's about me."
Martín has no fucking time to unpack that.

Summary
All his adult life, the only thing Andrés has wanted is to meet a vampire.
Well, to meet a vampire would be one thing – at least it would be a sound beginning towards achieving his ultimate goal.
What he truly wants is for a vampire to drink his blood.

Summary
Andrés presses a kiss on his cheek. It's incredibly chaste, considering, but it also feels weighty, right now. It's a parting kiss of fond friends and former lovers – two men who spent a week within one another – is it ever possible for them to truly part? Isn't Andrés going to always carry a part of this man inside him, no matter how far they trail from one another?

Summary
"Is this the man who shook the earth and made kingdoms tremble, the man who made the world a wilderness, who overthrew its cities and would not let his captives go home?”
Andrés's ex-wife has a new boyfriend, Andrés wants revenge, and Martín just happened to be there. Like a fallen angel.

Summary
"They say that if you share a star fruit with someone else, then you're fated to always remain in each other's lives,” Martín says, serious like adults often are. It sounds funny, coming from him. He's just a little kid; far too young to ever be serious.
But Andrés feels a distinct flutter in his heart at the notion of always. "Okay?" he offers, "That's... that's great, though, isn't it? Friends forever?" He shakes the fruit demonstratively. "Come on," he says, "Take it. My arm's getting sore."

Summary
Andrés sighs. “Romance follows me, wherever I go,” he declares, with a dramatic spread of his hands, “I'm cursed, and I hope you could cure me.”
“I'm sorry, what?”
“You heard me. Or are you deaf in one or two ears? If yes, I'm sorry. Then that was kind of rude. And this time, I didn't actually intend to be rude, so I…”
“I'm not deaf,” Martín says, “I just did not understand what the fuck you said. A romance curse?”

Summary
“I'm really going to miss the sky in the southern hemisphere,” Andrés breathed, without looking at Martín. The cold air hurt his lungs on the inhale.
“It'll always be here,” Martín said, his tone unreadable, “You can always come back.”
He couldn't, of course. He lived in Madrid, and he couldn't just travel to Chile every summer to stargaze. It was expensive, and it would greatly hinder his ability to build anything else out of his life.

Summary
"Your desire was never the problem," Andrés tells him, quietly.
Martín laughs, in a quiet sob. "Yes, it was. It's fine, Andrés. I'm a grown man. I'm well past wishing my straight best friend wanted me."
But Andrés does want him. Or he thinks he does – it's so difficult to tell, when he can't properly explore it. Why's everything so difficult, between them, nowadays?
(He should've found a better way to break Martín's heart.)

Summary
"They're so fucking stupid," the man next to him complains. He's drunk, Andrés can smell it on his breath, let alone hearing it in his foreign drawl. "With their fucking wings. Who cares if they're black or brown or– if they're bat wings or avian? We all have them. Shut the fuck up about it, already."
"I don't," Andrés says.
"What?" The man leans closer to him, like maybe he didn't hear that right. He doesn't have his wings out.
"I don't have wings," Andrés repeats, more loudly. There's something freeing about saying it so casually, to a stranger no less.

Summary
“Tell me about your sins,” Martín says, “Match my passion with your crimes.”
“I've been divorced three times,” Andrés offers, a fun anecdote for a fellow apostate, “And that part, while sin, isn't even half of it. The truth is, I got bored of them, every time. The confines of marriage, while interesting for a while, aren't exactly worth committing to. And you?”
“I have lain with men,” Martín says in turn, “So many men. And I'll continue to do that. Along with coveting what's not mine but will soon become, it's my favourite sin.”

“You know, I've been– I've been here,” Andrés says. “All this time. And I've imagined what I'd say to you, if I could. But I didn't think it'd be so soon.”
There's a slight tremor to his voice, as his fingertips brush over Martín's face. Martín can read the gesture like not a single day has passed: what have you done, it asks, feeling remorse that Martín himself cannot summon.
“Surely you didn't think I'd, I don't know. Marry Mirko, and get a dog together? Fuck right off.”

Summary
As they trailed into the kitchen, Andrés could have taken in the place, in detail, could have imagined how Martín might have once pathetically tried and failed to fit himself into this life, could have committed it to his memory – this was the only time he'd ever see it, after all – but he didn't care to.
It was just a stage, and they were the actors. It was the setting, and they were the stars.
What mattered was that his brilliant fiancé had picked the lock so that they could have this private little event. So that Andrés could have the pleasure of bending him over a kitchen table that had once been a meaningless prop in a different life.

"Where did you even get a love potion? Let's start with that."
"I... ordered it online," Andrés says, gesturing at the packaging he hasn't yet cleared away, and winces. He already knows what Martín will say.
"You— that's so fucking stupid, Andrés. You can't just drink some random potions you find online."
Andrés bristles. "Well, it worked," he mutters, sulkily. "I'm incredibly in love with you."

“I fear you may have lung stones. I'll have to do a thorough examination.”
“Oh no!” Martín exclaims, “Are those, are they dangerous…”
But before Andrés can reply, he continues, dropping his tone with a sigh, “...Andrés. You're thinking of kidney stones.”
Andrés nods very seriously, having never been the type to let something as useless as biology stop him. “Kidney stones, as I said. They can be lethal. I'll have to remove them, with a– knife.”

Summary
Palermo had stolen from a small gallery, but he'd made the crime showy. It had it all – explosives, wrongly accused parties, even an affair had been made public, between the (married) gallery proprietor and his 19-year old (male) intern.
The crime had all the hallmarks of being made to draw attention, almost desperate to be written about. It was a shout into the void: I'm here, can you see me?
Andrés saw, and it made him smile. All this effort, for his sake alone.

Summary
Martín groans; he has to close his eyes against it, squeezing them shut. He takes a few deep breaths in an effort to centre himself.
But he knows his alcohol, and this isn't it. He's been drunk all night, and this is something else.
“I– there's something wrong with me,” he says slowly, having to force the words out, because his mouth is starting to feel like cotton.

Summary
"You said he should marry, so that he can stay in the country. Hence, you're looking at his husband." Andrés motions at himself. "Isn't that lovely?"
Trust Andrés to do something exactly like this. To take an innocent throwaway line and wrestle it into his new life plan. To make Sergio an accessory to his crime, and claim that he'd once endorsed this.
“You cannot just–”
“Turns out I can,” Andrés says, and for a moment, something dangerous flashes in his gaze, “And I did.”
// In which Sergio accidentally convinces Andrés to marry his best friend, and isn't prepared to having to deal with that.

Summary
Andrés knew he shouldn't. And perhaps it was him, all along; maybe he was the snake that ruined Eden, the serpent that coaxed Martín onto a path of sin from which there would be no return. Maybe he was the poison that corroded their friendship, that day, and maybe he was the one who would go on to taint everything with his greed.
But he didn't care. He was in the mood to make mistakes; colossal, cruel, he wanted them all, no matter their cost. He was drawn in by a darkness in Martín, and wanted to lose himself in it.

Summary
The young man gets down on his knees, but looks up at Andrés with a defiance that reminds him distinctly of Martín; the reason why he's doing all this. He tries to focus on that. He's only letting that filthy mouth anywhere near him because of Martín – his brilliant engineer, his friend. His companion. He wants to give Martín more than he has.

Summary
"I still see your paintings around," Martín offers, aiming for casual observation but landing somewhere between desperate to talk and revealing too much, "Whether I want to or not. Seems like it's all," he makes a vague gesture to try and capture it, "working out for you."
"Thank you," Andrés says, but he doesn't sound like he particularly means it. Maybe Martín's opinions no longer matter to him.
