“You know, I've been– I've been here,” Andrés says. “All this time. And I've imagined what I'd say to you, if I could. But I didn't think it'd be so soon.”
There's a slight tremor to his voice, as his fingertips brush over Martín's face. Martín can read the gesture like not a single day has passed: what have you done, it asks, feeling remorse that Martín himself cannot summon.
“Surely you didn't think I'd, I don't know. Marry Mirko, and get a dog together? Fuck right off.”

Martín regarded him, found himself smiling. He loved Andrés so much it was at times hard to define himself any other way. And he knew that Andrés loved him too, so much he'd ruin lives for Martín without a second thought, let alone a permission.
If Martín could have one wish, it'd be that this could be enough. That neither of them never needed anyone else, that it could be eternally summer and they could stay right here and never leave.

It was highly possible that this question had been rattling around in his mind while he brewed the coffee, poured it, stirred it. Perhaps it had matured over the course of multiple coffees, because he seemed to place a great deal of importance on it.
In which Andrés needs a fake relationship for the summer break to show everyone he's over his ex-fiancée. Why that should be Martín - well that's just obvious, isn't it?

Whether he was trimming the wick or polishing the lenses, he gave the task his entire focus, never wavering or gazing off into the distance. Eames had always dabbled in everything he did, a little bit here and a little more there, and he wasn’t sure he had ever before seen someone mastering their own line of work in this way.

“You don’t, not right now. But we are best friends. We’ll get back there, give it a week.” It only ever took a week, and that was the only good thing about this. Martín instinctually knew his place, he came back to it, every time. They crafted their world from ashes in the same span of time God had once crafted his.
