Summary
Successfully carving out some time for R&R this winter, Joshua and Dion embark on a journey to enjoy some holiday traditions together in a festive little town. Their first private trip since the start of their relationship, Dion is determined to make the very most of it with Joshua and check off every experience on their list.

Summary
Dion is helpless to stop this blaze. He does not know which of them initiates the kiss – the Phoenix, Bahamut, or the humans imprisoned within. All he knows is a yearning that has lasted thousands of years. Their teeth and tongues clash like blades, a battle which Dion is doomed to lose. His hands yearn to touch, to tear, to take, and yet he is powerless to move, hopelessly entangled in the Phoenix’ wings.
“You are mine”, the Phoenix’ heat presses against his lips, his body a furnace. “Mine, Dion. Swear it. Upon my name.”
After Twinside, Dion Lesage seeks death. In the flames of the Phoenix, he finds life.

The Phoenix’s feathers tickling beneath his skin, ruffling with something undefinable that causes his grip on his senses to unravel. He wants to turn tail and flee; open his wings and fly up into the storm clouds in some irrational, hysterical hope that Bahamut might give chase. He wants to fall into his arms and sob like a babe; press their foreheads together so that he may finally read the truth in those honey-brown eyes."
After returning from Stonhyrr, Joshua's feelings for Dion are a messy knot, tangling him up in what could be, and what could never be. Those lingering regrets, those festering fears, and— perhaps most bewilderingly of all—a deep, dizzying desire.
During a moment alone, Dion surprises him by initiating something that spins them both into something new - but in the depths of his heart, Joshua knows that it’s fleeting.

Joshua can’t say what possesses him in that moment, just that it's carnal and instinctual, and he wouldn’t have been able to stop it even if he tried. He brings his hand up and back down against Dion’s ass. The crack of his palm echoes in their small bedroom. Silence follows.
A pitiful, broken sound tumbles right out of Dion’s chest. “Again,” he hisses. “Do it again, Joshua.”
