Summary
Getting a believable set of false documents and ID was the best thing Jade ever did for herself.
She swipes a thumb over the glossy surface of her new ID. A driver’s license, declaring she’s 16. Jade doesn’t know if that age gap — she’s only 13 — is fully believable, but she can make it work. It looks legit, and cost her a hefty bit of cash — well, cost Sportsmaster a hefty bit of cash. (She learned how to crack the safe in his bedroom long ago, and took all the cash she could carry with her when she left the house. She figured that if she was running from him, the least he could do was pay for her to get away safely.)
What Jade’s most excited about is the name printed in thick, dark ink next to her ID picture.
