“You’re making hot chocolate wrong,” Cyno said.
Tighnari froze, his hand hovering over the pot. He turned his head slowly, ears swiveling toward the remark before his gaze followed, narrowing at the man by the fire. “Excuse me?”
Cyno leaned back slightly, clearly unfazed by the sharpness of Tighnari’s tone. “You’re heating the milk before adding the cocoa powder. It’ll clump.”
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Tighnari shot back, gesturing emphatically with the spoon in his hand. “I must have forgotten you’re not only the General Mahamatra but also an expert chocolatier. What other culinary secrets have you been hiding, Cyno?”
Cyno met the sarcasm with the tiniest smirk, his crimson eyes glinting with amusement. “I could demonstrate,” he offered, his tone maddeningly even. “But I’d hate to infringe on your process.”
Tighnari’s grip on the spoon tightened as he stared at Cyno, debating whether to defend his method or banish him from the kitchen altogether. He huffed, turning back to the pot on the stove.
“Fine. Since you’re so full of advice, enlighten me, oh master chocolatier. How does one make the elusive, perfect hot chocolate?”
