“I’m sorry,” says Feng Xin. He grabs onto Mu Qing's wrists to stop his movements because, frankly, he’d gotten a little bolder in pressing angrily against Feng Xin’s bruises and the slight pain is making Feng Xin dizzier than he already was. “I really am sorry, but I can’t have this talk right now. I don’t want to fight you tonight.”
For a moment it looks as if Mu Qing will snap at him, will respond with another jab painful enough that it could rival all of the combined real punches Feng Xin has endured earlier tonight, but instead he just says, “Your bandages are getting wet.”

“If you want us to,” answers Mu Qing. He cups Xie Lian’s cheek in his hand, thumb swiping across his cheek bone. Xie Lian opens his eyes. “These two attendants would be honored to serve you, Your Highness.”
Xie Lian wants.
“Yes,” he whispers.

I assume you haven’t eaten recently.” Feng Xin nudges the bowl across the table so it’s a little closer to Mu Qing, eyes flitting back and forth between him and the food. “Also I made peppermint tea if you want some afterwards. And I threw away your half-cooked eggs, which was disgusting by the way, they were stuck to the pan—”
Knowing that Feng Xin rambles when he’s nervous and won’t stop once he gets going, Mu Qing snaps, “What are you doing back here?”
Feng Xin’s head jerks up, brows furrowing angrily. “Fuck, just shut up and let someone take care of you for once. Eat your fucking congee.”
(Or: Mu Qing is sick and Feng Xin takes care of him. Lots of feelings and emotions ensue.)
