The Admin building is creepier at night, with all of the dark wood paneling and weird radiator sounds that old buildings always have. Julia arrives ten minutes early but she’s starting to see that her A-type tendencies don’t hold a candle to Alice’s, who’s already waiting with books in languages Julia has never seen before. Rumi’s fingers curled.
Mira’s eyes dropped, first to Rumi’s lips, then down her neck, her collarbone, her chest rising fast. Too fast. This was no longer about winning. Not really.
