Pete is out of the room and he’s rinsing the stripe of his hair before he even processes what he’s nodded his agreement to. If he understands, which is always a little doubtful, then he’s agreed to be Pete’s date for the sprawl of a Dream Team Christmas. Which what the actual fuck and that wasn’t a thing people fucking did and mostly just he was fucked. His hands shakes as he rinses out the rest of the dye, infernal heart beat unsteady and in his throat.
“Dude,” The word comes out more of a sigh than he means for it to as he dries his hair just enough to make sure it won’t stick unattractively to his face.
He tries again as he shuffles to the kitchen. “Dude, did you ask me to be your, like, Christmas date, or whatever?”
“Course not,” Pete says grinning. “I asked you to be my fake Christmas date.” Cody would reach for the cigarettes he keeps in his pockets if he didn’t know the way it would crease Pete’s brow. All smoking now would get him would be a stern look and a point to the fire escape and it’s December and too damn cold for that.

Summary
Post-Sophomore Year, Aelwyn has to adjust to life at Mordred Manor and having freedom and a family again. In order to cope with the stress of rediscovering her morality, sexuality, and gender identity, she rekindles the love of ballet that she had been forced away from by her parents. However, this gets complicated when she attracts the attention of Sam Nightingale and is forced to reckon with her feelings getting in the way of her reforming morals and complex mental state.

But that is an understandable price to pay. A reasonable price, if it keeps everyone else safe. It doesn’t matter, really, if he has started to find more and more lacerations from stray waves of shadow each morning as he lies in his untouched bed. It doesn’t matter that the pupils of his eyes, when he gazes into the reflective glass of the captain’s desk, are starting to disappear entirely. Nor that he will sometimes start at the faint feeling of fingers threading around his neck, tracing the line of his cheek.
