“You’re an idiot, do you know that?” She asked with a tremble in her voice and a lump in her throat. “What were you even thinking?”
The elf got no reply from the battered human prince laying limp in her arms. If he hadn’t been out cold, perhaps he would have told her that he was thinking that watching her rush off alone to face a Worgel, one of Xadia’s more wild and dangerous predators, was a terrible idea. That he thought he could help, after all, he had magic now, he could hold his own in a fight.
…Or that he didn’t realise the creature could kick with the force of three draught horses combined, or shoot spines the size of swords out of their back.---
A fic in which Rayla patches up Callum and learns that humans have these strange things called "Bellybuttons." Soft silliness ensues after a bit of angst.

It had been three days. Three days since he had last seen her, the pair separated lost in the Woods of Aloria. It had been chaos, the group split in panic during a scuffle with a giant Bolarian Titan Snake. She had screamed at him to run, and Callum had hesitated, watching her dart off, baby dragon in arm, before his own trembling legs tried to follow. But he had been too slow, the snake coming between them, and he had barely escaped himself as he darted off in the opposite direction.
Three cold nights, Callum had spent in caves alone, wondering silently if he’d ever see her again. Drawing her, desperate to hold onto her memory… just in case. So it had felt like a miracle when he spotted her, standing in shock between the trees staring at him, Zym by her feet.

His five-fingered hand squeezed her four-fingered. He grabbed it like it was his last shot at life and, without warning, Callum pulled Rayla with the strength of a healthy person, dragging her slightly onto the bed.
“Callum!” Rayla hissed, stunned.
“Mhm?”
“What are you doing?”
He drew her closer. “This is nice.”

It’s not that it’s a bad idea. In all honesty, Ezran thinks it’s a well thought-out, completely reasonable, perfectly sound idea that could solve a lot of his own problems, Callum’s problems, and Katolis’ problems, in one fell swoop - if it works, that is. It’s a little risky, he’ll admit, but it’s not the same as, say, running away from home at ten years old with his brother and a Moonshadow elf assassin (whose mission was to kill him, mind) to return a dragon egg in the midst of a centuries-long war, and hey, they’d managed that all right. Compared to that mess, politics should be easy, right?
Right?
