Summary
Tweek takes Craig's advice to "go be gay with someone else" and finds Kenny, who needs the free gay money more than anyone. They play the part well enough for the town to fall in love with 'Twenny,' forgetting all about 'Creek.'
In an ironic twist, Tweek and Craig really do end up falling for each other. But Kenny still needs the money, and everyone is so invested in them at this point that a staged breakup could have consequences they don't want to risk. So they make an arrangement: Kenny and Tweek continue pretending to be boyfriends in public, and Craig and Tweek can be real boyfriends in secret.
It's a mess, but it works, and they're pretty happy with it- Until Craig notices the pretending looking a little too real.

Based on the Detroit: Become Human world, but probably not super accurate to the semantics. I never actually played the game, I was just intrigued by the synopsis so I read some summaries and watched some videos. Then, of course, my brain went: 'Any interesting setting ever? Let's apply it to Creek!'

Oh my goddddddd this is so fucking cute and I normally find action/superhero settings hard to get into both through reading and writing because I'm not good at worldbuilding or learning new worlds, but this was so so easy to devour, I slurped it up like I haven't had a meal in months, like how kittens act when you feed them two minutes past their feeding time ughhh <3333 watchingthemoontogether is always great at pulling you into really tense dynamics with complicated history and this one with the added element of a life-or-death situation and being healed by an ex HAD to slap, of course! If you've been in a bad headspace and kind of going through a rut with fics where options seem either too long/heavy and intimidating to pick up or too shallow to twang that little angst string in your heart, I think this is the perfect refresher fic to get those sweet bubbly feelings back into you, as it was for me :))) <3333

If you enjoy angst, pleaseee read, every emotion is captured so well without being explicitly stated, leaving room to reread and reread and reread lines just to infer more and more hidden pain (and romantic urges) behind their words and mannerisms. This fic feels like flossing your teeth with the fine line between love and grief. So much beauty packed in just a one-shot it shouldn't even be physically possible.
If you *don't* enjoy angst-- read it anyway, pussy 🔫 😠. As a chronic fluff monster this is well worth the suffering <333 -

At first, Craig didn’t understand who or even what he was looking at. It was a boy who looked around Craig’s age, sure enough, but some aspects dismissed that probability.
It wore scarlet horns through tufts of scruffy, honey-accented hair (so scruffy Craig imagined it tossing its hair beforehand). Bat-like wings were tucked behind an olive button-down shirt. Yet it wore the face of a teenage boy—a pretty boy, Craig noted— and its face was slender and milk-white. Craig felt if he touched the boy, it’d be deprived of all pores and scarring. But that wasn’t a bad thing. Or, it didn’t feel like a bad thing; Craig didn’t mind it. Two gentle carmine eyes drowned Craig in an accumulation of sea foam, and Craig almost allowed a smile.

The imagery is so vivid and the words are so artfully chosen that it feels like the pinnacle of a fantasy horror movie, despite the story just beginning. Perfect for kicking off spooky season if you're looking for a darker Creek fix!
