Summary
Robin was joking but something very serious in Steve twisted. It tasted like the giddy hopefulness he felt when a girl giggled and tucked her hair behind her ear after a shitty joke, but tinged with a dark trepidation he’d never felt before. He was looking down a sharp berry-coloured precipice, could smell the cigarettes and grass stains, hear the rushing water below, like plucked guitar strings and well-loved book pages coming to life between ringed fingers, and, honestly, he really fucking wanted to jump.

Summary
Richie was still sat on the bed. His hair and clothes had dried from the barrens hours ago, his mind still thrashing there, trying to outswim the trail of someone else’s blood pooling around him.
He breathed in the smell of the sewers, the hot metallic crimson stink of blood under his nails, tasting pennies under his tongue, the smell of seaweed and river rocks scrubbed raw under heavy feet, the smell of summer wind wiping and thrashing against his falling body, plummeting into the water bellow with a hollow burning splash.
He breathed out was was left of him.
A knock came, urgent and desperate, and he looked over at the clock. 4 am.

Summary
Chapter one: they're fourteen and stupidly in love and kind of aware of it. But it's just a joke. Just a joke. "So maybe I should laugh a bit more myself and stop staring at the way you laugh." That kind of joke.
Chapter two: they're almost fourty and they survived the killer clown and remembered the person they've been waiting for all their life- so they move in together. Because they're still stupidly in love, and very much aware of it.

Summary
"Richie, do you like boys?"
The rooftop seemed so much steeper now. He gripped furiously in breathless horror at the tiles, scrambling back, feeling himself sliding sliding sliding into the dark street below, into the sewers, into a blood red mouth glistening with row after row of broken glass teeth.
He liked boys.
