“Um, yeah I am, mate,” Lando says. “C’mon. It’s not like we can erase the kiss from anyone’s mind or socials. And I don’t want Zak to think you’re like playing mind games with me. I mean, you’re not right?”
“No,” Oscar exclaims, shaking his head. “Of course not.”
“Then, we might as well just lean in, right?” Lando says. “You’d look crazy if we just pretended it was some weird accident.”
Well, Oscar probably is for kissing his teammate like that.

Oscar kisses Lando on the podium in front of the whole world. Which might be ok if they were dating. But they're not. Not even close. So now, they have to pretend to date to save both of their careers from Oscar's lapse in judgment. This means cute insta posts, joint interviews, the occasional public date, and shared hotel room.
It certainly doesn't mean exploring his newfound sexuality with his teammate. Or getting to know him on a deeper level. Or falling in love with him. All while leading the championship. Again.

She normally doesn’t dress up for him. Her wardrobe isn’t filled with elaborate lingerie sets or anything over the top. And honestly, Lando loves that about her. He thinks she’s the sexiest when she’s at her most comfortable, whether that’s lounging in her favorite oversized hoodie or wearing one of his shirts, or that specific black leggings that she wears religiously.

Oscar excused his intrusion with a lilting drawl, explaining his reasons to Lando’s engineer casually. “Lando here said that he needed to have a chat with me, urgently, before media today.” Oscar spared a quick glance at Will, who seemed to be a bit pinker around the cheeks than he was before, then returned his gaze to Lando. “Isn’t that right, Lando?” Oscar prompts, daring Lando to tell the truth, to explain that he has no idea what’s going on or why Oscar is wearing that.
“Y-yeah…” Lando finally stammers out, every piston in his body firing on all cylinders at the sight before him. “I had forgotten, um, about that-” he tries again, looking to Will and scratching the back of his head apologetically, trying to play the whole charade off, but even he could see he was failing to convince anyone.

Oscar shows up to the Silverstone Grand Prix media day wearing a brand new, off-the-shelf Lando Grandstand Jersey, and horniness ensues.

Realizing he’s going to be alongside him for quite some time, Lando decides to now make it his mission to become even closer to the young Australian. Not just as a teammate, but as a friend. The idea seems simple enough, after all, he’s never had trouble becoming friends with his teammates in the past.
Oscar isn’t the same wide-eyed rookie who stepped into his life months ago. He’s more confident, more bold and getting increasingly more comfortable around Lando. But the older boy finds himself drawn to Oscar in ways he can’t quite understand, having to wrestle with certain thoughts whenever Oscar so much as smiles in his direction. But the truth was there, heavy and suffocating, sitting between them every time they sat side by side. Every time they thought about the summer break ending. Every time they lay in bed together, with no space between their bodies, but miles between their minds. Oscar felt it more than Lando, he felt the way Lando’s hand didn’t reach out to him anymore, the way Lando’s smile never reached his eyes, the way Lando’s kisses were fading, softening, disappearing. He felt the way he was losing him, slowly, quietly, painfully. And there was nothing Oscar could do about it other than watch.
Or, Lando can't handle the thought of losing to Oscar in the championship that he mentally breaks up with Oscar before getting the courage to do it in person, and Oscar falls apart in the process.
