Continuation of the fic ‘Acclaimed’. As an Alpha, Castiel is supposed to have his truemate’s name appear as a tattoo on his chest on his birthday, the year they are going to meet. Fate was going to bring them together, for a whole year, so that the alpha could woo his omega. It was all going to be very magical and romantic, except for Castiel it (a) doesn’t happen until he’s freaking 40, (b) happens with a strangely behaving jogger in Central Park and (c) he ends up with the name of Dean Winchester, movie action hero, on his chest. Dean only ever plays alphas, he lives in Hollywood, he has no interest in dating small town cops right? So Castiel should just give up his claim right?

When news of a supposed angel attack reach the kingdom of Winchester, they don't hesitate to send Dean to invade Enoch with a declaration of war, despite the fact that they haven't had any contact with the powerful creatures in centuries. What follows is a swift and utter defeat that would have cost Dean his life if it weren't for general Castiel's intervention. But saving the prince's life comes at a great cost to Cas; half of his Grace now burns in Dean and Cas will bleed out what he has left, unless he can convince the human to complete what is supposed a soul bond. To uncover why exactly Winchester attacked the angels - and to save himself from a life of misery - Cas makes a deal with the Kingdom of Winchester: Enoch won't retaliate for the invasion and Cas will claim Dean as his husband.

Dean’s not stupid. He’s seen the looks Cas has aimed his way, when Cas thought he wasn’t paying attention. He’s leveled his share of looks back at Cas when the angel’s attention was elsewhere. More than once, he’s been caught in the act. At this point, they’re both dancing around the same elephant, too scared and caught in their ways to make the first move.

Summary
This story written in 2008, just after Last of the Timelords in S3, features a Rose/Doctor reunion. It explores alien sexuality in a frank, but hopefully sensitive, way. Some readers found this take on Gallifreyan gender roles alarming. Rose does as well. But I wanted to clearly show that this is a union between two different species. The Doctor isn't human here.
As it was written long before there was a Ten 2 or other options, you must set aside what you know. I merely tackle what RTD failed to address. I felt that the Doctor having experienced old age at the hands of the Master might find he had less to fear. And, also, I felt he would want to experience the fullness of a life with Rose. So, this is the Doctor and Rose starting their life together. Many have since imagined this life for the Duplicate Ten and Rose, but here, of course, the details will be different. It is the original Doctor and so...some things are quite alien. There are gender issues at play and some assertive sexual interaction, but everything happens in a loving fashion.
