Summary
The girl sitting cross-legged against the front door rose to greet her friend.
“Mair!” She beamed. And then seeing him moving closer—“Oh no, you won’t want to touch me like this—I’ve been running around in the woods all day, and that was only after—”
Ignoring her deftly as always, Numair swept his student up in a bear hug, lingering an extra second before letting go.

Summary
Daine closed the drawer and sighed. She turned back to face him, her expression unreadable. “Numair, what are we going to do about the Laipirn’s Day ball?”
Numair set down his pen. He still had no sure answer. The Contes’ guests that night were expected to arrive in pairs: last year she’d taken Perrin, and he'd arrived with Lady Amanthe.
Thank Mithros the times had changed.

Summary
Daine coughed and choked on the firey liquid. When she caught her breath again, she got to her knees and looked at the Lioness with narrowed eyes. “Truth drops?”
Alanna chuckled. “I hardly think you’re that tough a nut to crack. Besides, I just had some. It’s no more a truth-telling magic than liquor always is.”Bookmarked by winterswept
