Nagito has managed to drag Hajime with him to explore the abandoned houses behind the main attractions on the third island. Whilst exploring, Nagito asks Hajime if he'd ever wanted to build a family and own a house, similar to the one they're exploring. Hajime is unsure, but confesses he wouldn't mind a normal family life. Nagito offers to help him imagine what that might be like with a little role-play.

Summary
Komaeda's skin was slick with sweat, mattress soaked where he’d left an ovular imprint. Salt air brushed beneath his nose, lip dripping over something chapped. His mouth was open, panting, a cold sport’s drink in his hands, wrists dangling over the edge of the dock.
Sometimes it feels like his skin weeps for him. Like *that’s* why lymphoma causes the sweats. Almost poetic. His legs shake, the chronic pain ramping, and he breathes the Pacific air through his nose and imagines morphine through an IV drip as he counts down from ten. By the time he realizes the laughter has become crying, he can’t stop. There’s casino music in his head.

Komaeda's been alone so long he forgets what its like to have anyone around to hear him cry.
Hinata hears the story behind some of Komaeda's belief system, and Komaeda gets more than he gambled for.

Summary
Nagito Komaeda finds that adjusting to a new city might be difficult, but not quite impossible.
When he runs into a lost young girl at a local park and helps her find her way back, making a new but unlikely friend comes surprisingly easily to him – and it makes it even easier to have a lucky encounter with an old one.
On the other end, Hajime Hinata is a single father committing himself to the balancing act of keeping himself in one piece for the sake of his daughter; but with a long-lost friend turning up to offer a helping hand, he thinks that maybe things won’t end up so bad after all.
