"I wanna worry about you, Will." Mike insisted, "What's wrong?"
Will simpered, shaking his head. "It's nothing, I promise."
Will cradled the back of Mike's head and gingerly guided it back down to his chest. He ran his fingers through Mike's hair, scratching his scalp comfortingly.
"I just-" Will faltered, "I love you, man. You know that."
Mike's heart staggered uncomfortably in his chest. I think I love you the way I'm supposed to love girls, he thought, before willing himself into composure.
"Yeah. I love you too." He replied, "You're my best friend."
Mike's confusing feelings about Will come to fruition the summer before they leave for college. It becomes increasingly difficult to hide as the weather gets hotter and they start sleeping in the same bed.

Summary
"Do you love him?" Mike slurs, panting. They're both breathing hard and fast, their sternums bumping with each heaving inhale.
Guilt burns white-hot in Will's chest, reminding him of the weight of the situation. What was he going to say to Carlton when he went back to New York? There's no way he could continue their relationship after this, this is impossible to move on from.
"No." Will whispers, his voice just barely audible over the muffled sounds of the party outside.
"Why?" Mike asks, his face a strange mixture of confusion and hopefulness.
Will sighs, shaking his head slightly. "He's just not you. It's not the same."
After one last explosive fight with Mike, Will decides to use college as an opportunity to move on from him. However, filling the void doesn't come easy, even after he starts dating someone new.
AKA the cheating Byler fic I imagined the second I saw Will's epilogue boyfriend on screen.

Summary
After the final battle, it's just Will, Mike, Max, Lucas and Dustin, it's November 6th, 1988, everyone is bored, until Lucas proposes to play "seven minutes in heaven", those seven minutes turn into hours for Will and Mike.
OR
mike and will get paired up (not fairly) for the game, having to spend 7 minutes together in a very tiny closet.

Will’s still looking straight up at the sky. The length of his neck is very, very flushed. Mike can feel his entire face going redder than Vader’s lightsaber. He clenches his hands into tiny little fists, and says, around a groan: “I’m not Han Solo, guys.”
In which Lucas has a thing for Bowie, Will has a thing for Han Solo, Mike has a thing for Will, and El should never be allowed to watch Star Wars again.
