Summary
To peacefully end the war with Akielos, King Auguste of Vere sold his brother in marriage. To some, that was his first mistake.
As Laurent thrived in Akielos, his brother's rule suffered without him. Now the King of Vere has taken a prolonged Retreat from his duties, leaving the country in the hands of his chosen Regent, his uncle, Richard. Auguste’s tone matched the look on his face. Detached, uninterested. He regarded Damen for a moment or two before stepping around him to take a look at Lou.
The gasp was unexpected.
Even more unexpected was the desperate, broken: “Laurent?”

Summary
