Natalie once asked David and Gabe if they’d both instantly evaporate if they were separated for more than a few hours.
It was more of an offhand observation than anything else, delivered in the middle of a FaceTime while she was doing something else, folding laundry, maybe, or pacing her room with the phone balanced on her arm as she was holding other things. The details weren’t anything to remember. The comment barely slowed the conversation. Gabe laughed, David made a noncommittal noise, and they moved on.
But the question lingered in his mind for a bit.

Boris wanted Theo. He wanted him so much he couldn’t help it, but it wouldn’t matter. Because life would shun them, shun Theo who just wanted a perfect life. Boris wanted to cry with Theo, but he wanted to seem like the stronger one, so he couldn’t do anything about their relationship. No matter how hard he wanted to shake Theo so hard to get it into his mind that he wanted him bad.
Theo wouldn’t ever remember doing this. He wouldn’t remember the kiss, he wouldn’t remember his sobbing.
They just went back to Theo’s house and never brought it up again. But Boris would remember. He always remembered when they would kiss or do it. Maybe that was how it would be for the rest of their time here in Vegas. Until Theo goes back to New York, finds a wife and kids, forget about Boris, and it wouldn’t matter if he was happy or not. He would still have a normal life, even if a part of him still yearned for Boris.
Even, if also a part of Boris also yearned for Theo.
