And with time and age, poverty and excitement were traded for comfort and monotony. His farm thrived; there was food on his table, friends in taverns, and townsfolk more than willing to buy his wares - life was good. Life was secure.
Life was also dreadfully, mind-numbingly boring. The days blurred into one, each one like the next which was like the next and the next. Even the nights he spent drinking with friends - an activity that he had once waited in giddy anticipation for - had devolved into a simple, unchanging routine.
Which must be, then, why Hermes was so willing to go through with the first ridiculously ill-advised idea that popped into his head, all in an effort to combat his increasing boredom.

Summary
Hermes stops, the worn thin string of his patience snapping. “Excuse me, dear brother? Would you like to repeat that?” He asks as he turns to face Ares once more, seething, face burning red in anger. Ares looks taken aback for only a moment before responding.
“I simply mean, Hermes, that I have a hard time understanding what it is that has you so tired. Is being a herald really so difficult that you must interrupt father whilst he speaks?” He says, folding his arms and staring at Hermes with a look of superiority.
“I am more than just a herald," Hermes says through grinding teeth. "I bring souls to the Underworld! I grant protection to travelers and merchants! I fly to the ends of the Earth and back to deliver messages for you all - for you, so your wars can happen, Ares.”

Summary
Ineffable, inevitable ferryman to the dead, Charon, is solitary in his existence. He has a singular purpose. Greet the dead. Take the coin. Ferry the dead. Repeat. There was no need for anything more.
A new god enters his life to help him guide the dead to their after life. Hermes, messenger to the gods, and the exact opposite of all Charon is, inserts himself into Charon's life and changes it completely.

His wings flutter anxiously, mouth fiercely closed. The smoke is too thick to swallow, he’d probably gag if he tried to. “Mhm!” he mutters, feeling his cheeks grow red.
Zagreus tilts his head, considering. “Uh, Hermes?”
“M– Mhm?” he tries again, resting an elbow on Charon’s shoulder. That was casual, right? He looked normal. Probably.
“You all right, mate? You’re being… unusually quiet.”

There’s one thing one must know about Hermes.
Well- there’s many things- many many things—
But the most important thing one must know is that Hermes. Doesn’t. Wait.
He doesn’t. Or… tries not too. He despises waiting. He is- after all- the god of swiftness. The Divine Messenger. And one can imagine his job is very very hectic- and very very important-
And- all things considered—
He can’t afford to wait.
There is always a letter to be sent- parcels to be delivered- notes to be passed- messages to be orated- always a place to be-
Gods forbid he run late!
All of that aside and if he were given the option— Hermes probably- most likely- almost certainly- wouldn’t have taken his most recent promotion should he have known it required waiting.

Streetlights had been few and far between as they took backroads out of Pompeii, but loomed as they approached a city, staggered along the endless horizon. As each one passed, the car was bathed in warm yellow light; flashbulbs capturing Giorno’s blond hair, his high, pink cheekbones, his sloping nose. Nobody could deny that Giorno was beautiful, but even in the mundanity of a streetlight’s glow, Fugo thought that he was radiant.
“You’re staring,” Giorno said, finally breaking the languishing silence."
Giorno saved his life and Fugo can't believe it, or believe that he deserved it. Does that mean he feels the same way? But how does Fugo really feel about the beautiful newcomer to the gang? He's not even sure he knows...

A retelling of the events of Vento Aureo, from Fugo's perspective with a few major changes. Namely, he has the biggest fattest crush on Giorno Giovanna.
