He could see the attraction while far back in the line. It wasn’t called a tower for nothing, after all. The screams of the people currently riding almost sound like a taunt, and he felt his feet rooted to the spot.
“Oh shit, are you scared after all?” Ivan knows it was a dig.
But he saw the concerned look on Till's face, and his mind flashed to earlier: Bari deliberately going up and closing on Till’s space—a little too closely, a smile on his face. Ivan didn’t like that smile.
But as his grip tightened more around Till’s waist, he supposed he wasn’t any better.
“No,” he answered, resting his chin atop Till’s head.
…Or Ivan succumbs to peer pressure because of a certain someone and rides the drop tower. Problem? He’s afraid of heights.

En lugar de reírse, en vez de pedirle que no dijera tonterías o salir huyendo, el sonrojo de Till se volvió más profundo, sus ojos brillaron de emoción y su brazo volvió a rodearlo con timidez. Ivan no pudo hacer más que respirar tembloroso, se secó las manos sudadas en el suéter para calmarse un poco, para recordar que no estaba soñando.
—¿Entonces me aceptas otra cita?
Till es el objeto de estudio favorito de Ivan, lo ha observado por años y lo conoce bastante bien. Siempre ha sabido lo imparable que es, pero nunca esperó que llegara el día en el que le daría vuelta a su mundo y lo invitaría a una cita. Salir con él es como un sueño que se niega a creer, pero Till continúa sacudiéndolo con sus muestras de afecto, así que a Ivan no le queda de otra más que admitir que quizás su estudio no era tan imparcial como creía.

They lay there together in the slightly damp grass, breaths coming in pants. Till's eyes find themselves fixed on the sky above, at the expanse of twinkling stars. He shudders as a memory flashes through his mind.
"Do you remember when we snuck out to watch that meteor shower together?" Ivan asks softly, voicing Till's thoughts out loud. It's so weird when he does that, sometimes. It's like he knows exactly what Till is thinking, even when Till himself doesn't yet.
This time, though, Till can't help but think that it's sweet that they were thinking the same thing.
With the end of high school upon him, Till can't help but worry about whether or not Ivan will remain in his life going forward.

Till hadn’t noticed that people around them had noticed the interaction, and the way that Mizi seemed to have frozen at that. Her expression shifted, but by the time Till had opened his eyes, it had smoothed out. She took the phone from his hand, “Sure, why not?”

“It’s pretty!” Till babbles. Ivan likes the way his smile looks.
After staring for a bit too long, Till turns his head to look at Ivan. Ivan swallows the weird lump in his throat, tightening his grip on Till and nodding.
“Very pretty,” he agrees, turning back to look at the meteors. Then, after a moment, “Your smile’s very pretty too.”
It isn’t anything like Ivan’s. No snaggletooth peeking out, no lopsidedness- his eyes crinkled like he was truly happy. Till is probably a very happy child.
Till blinks a few times, before lightly hitting Ivan’s arm. “You’re weird.”
A part of Ivan wants to talk back. It was odd, the safety he felt.
“Nuh-uh. You are.”
“Nuh-uh!” Till pulls his hand out of Ivan’s to cross his arms, and for a second, Ivan regrets having said anything. “I’m not weird!”
Ivan leans in closer, wanting to reach for Till’s hand again. “It’s okay. We can be weird together.”
