Summary
✥---------✥----------✥
Most of the time, Neil was still too afraid to speak. He thought about all the times he had spoken at the wrong time and things had gone wrong, or all the times he and his mother had been caught because he hadn’t lied well enough. With these lips, he had condemned her to pain and, ultimately, death. These lips had pressed against the softest parts of Andrew’s skin and made promises and told lies. Everything had been done with these two lips and the words they formed, the shapes and sounds they made as they curved. Yet, right now, his lips wished Andrew could just read his thoughts because the truth was, Neil hoped he would never have to say any of this, these thoughts, out loud.
What he said, when he forced his voice out, was the one truth that would never — and always — kill him.

Summary
✥---------✥----------✥
Andrew Minyard carries storms inside him. The scars on his hands, on his wrists, on his soul, are maps of a past he never wanted to remember, but which insists on following him. His mother, Tilda, a woman with eyes full of guilt and whispers, lives on the edge of the real world and the unreal. And there is something, or someone, that she fears more than anything.
There are voices hidden in the flowers. There are secrets dancing in the mirrors. There is a name never spoken aloud, a shadow that watches, waits, and promises.
Andrew wanted to believe that it was all the fruit of a shattered mind, but the things that haunt his family refuse to stay buried. They appear in the buzzing of insects, in the thunder that tears through the sky, in the wind that squeezes like invisible hands. Alongside Aaron, his twin brother who tries to keep him grounded, and under the pragmatic eye of David Wymack, he plunges into a maelstrom of generational secrets, buried curses, and ancient fears that should never have been awakened.
But the past has teeth. And now, as reality bends toward the supernatural, Andrew finds the line between victim and perpetrator increasingly blurred.
