Summary
Eddie feels his chest tightening. He inhales for four, holds for two, exhales for six, and starts again.
He shifts his gaze to Maddie, who’s watching him intently, her big eyes mirroring his in color and worry. They look at each other for a while, the silence interrupted by faint breathing and loud beeps.
“How am I supposed to let him go?”

Summary
It’s stupid and he knows it. Filming Eddie for a TikTok is not the best way to placate this embarrassing yet deep crush on his best friend – given that he could replay it as many times as he wished, and it wouldn’t be healthy– but it somehow seems like the only solution.

Summary
He’s sat at the table, slouching on the chair with his chin on his chest, eyelids drooping, and when Buck hands him his first coffee – exactly how he takes it every morning at the firehouse – along with a piece of crostata Athena brought to the station, Eddie answers instinctively.
“Thanks, mi amor.”

Summary
Dustin’s crying face in the Upside-Down – gloom all around them and flashes of crimson in the sky – is the last thing Eddie sees before he blacks out. He has no clue what happens next: he doesn’t know if his efforts were effective, if Max and everyone else are still alive, or even if Vecna has been killed. He just exists, in the dark limbo of his mind for who knows how long, until he suddenly feels something.

Summary
After waiting for a couple of seconds, the door opens a few inches, revealing a very disheveled Eddie, hair spiked in every direction, shirt on backward, sporting a couple of red marks on his neck.
“Uhm, hi Maddie.” He says, voice hoarse and – Maddie notices only now – his lips are puffy and swollen. He’s definitely been making out – God knows what else – and she feels a bit of a cockblocker right now.(Or, Maddie accidentally finds out about Buck and Eddie)

Summary
“Hey Rob, hi Steve.” Nancy appears by the counter – something in her hands Steve can’t quite see – and flashes the other girl a quick, private smile. Eddie appears behind her holding two pizza boxes. He’s bowing to them. “Good evening.” He says, and when he lifts his head, Steve’s brain straight-up short-circuits. Because that’s a bun.

Summary
“Alright,” Eddie begins, assessing him all over, “let’s see what we’re working with here.”
At that, he gently tugs at the lapels of the denim vest, slowly guiding his arms out of it. Steve shivers as they touch – he doesn’t mean to – and for a second all he can see, hear, smell, feel is Eddie. When he’s out of the vest, he stares at the item as though he’s seen it for the first time. It doesn’t look good – not as it did when Eddie was wearing it and they hadn’t dived in the lake or ended up in the Upside-down yet – it’s stained, and the pins are scratched.
“Ow, I bled all over it, I didn’t mean to,” he manages to croak out, “sorry.”(Or, Steve in the aftermath of Vecna)

Summary
Now Bobby is sure what all of this is about, and he feels his heart shrink, feeling useless, unable to help ease the pain – he could at least do something the last times, cradling him in the dirt, or washing his hands from the crimson blood and helping him change out of his stained clothes. If he could, he’d take the pain on him in a heartbeat, but he knows he can’t.
For now, all they can do is talk to him, reminding him of where and who he is, who they are and what they do. They sound like broken records, but Bobby can see it’s helping.(Or, Bobby's POV during one of Buck's nightmares and flashbacks)

Summary
The conversation is so familiar, and if Maddie didn’t already know, it’s clear now that her brother – the same boy their parents have always overlooked, never taken seriously, or deemed relevant – was meant to be a father. They way he talks to Chris, the way she’s seen them interact: it’s obvious.
