Ichiro remembers the first explosion well. It was the one that blinded dad, hurt Jiro and Saburo. If Ichiro was faster, maybe it wouldn't also have hurt mom, leaving her up to die as the second explosion hit.

"I’ll hopefully be home for tomorrow morning, depending on how long it takes for me to bail Kuko out. That dumbass got into a fight with a police officer. Bye!” Ichiro ran out, throwing Samatoki the keys before running to catch the bus on the other side of the street.
Samatoki stared as Ichiro ran out of sight, looking down at the keys hesitantly. Slowly but surely it became much more clear that Ichiro needed someone to watch his little brothers. Samatoki wondered out of everyone why he would pick out a gangster to babysit kids, but it was sort of hard to deny when Ichiro had already left. It all went too fast.
