I was up to my elbows in your blood trying to save you every time you were brought to me on the verge of death, and I had to stand by and let them take you back to the arena as soon as you were healed enough to fight, always far too soon to be a true recovery. I know exactly how much you can ‘take’, as you put it, because I had to watch in silence as they did their best to try and break you.” Ulaz shakes his head. “I have already seen bruises on every inch of your skin. I will not see it happen again. And I absolutely will not be the one to put them there.”
