Work Text:
Do you like Yaoyorozu?
Shouto audibly sighed at the text he got from his brother, Hitoshi. He put his phone back onto his desk face down, and returned to try and listen to Cementoss’ lesson on…something? Shouto honestly had no clue what they were discussing at this point.
And just when he had a grasp on things, he phone buzzed again.
I can see you ignoring me
Answer the question, Shouto
Whipping around, Shouto glared his eyes at a smirking Hitoshi. Said man still had his phone in his hands, and had a simple, sly, smile on his face.
‘Answer the question,’ he mouthed, his eyes returning to the screen.
Shouto rolled his eyes but decided to not continue to ignore his brother.
No
Shouto texted back quickly.
Oh?
So, do you like Bakugou?
Shouto let out a disgusting snort at this.
“Are you alright, Todoroki?” Cementoss asked, accusation filling his voice. The entire class turned around in their seats to stare at Shouto. Hitoshi, meanwhile, buried his head in his arms to keep himself from audibly laughing.
Shouto nodded, blushing violently red at the number of eyes on him, “Everything’s alright,” he whispered, “sorry for disrupting,”
Cementoss casted him one last look, before continuing with his lecture.
Fuck you
Shouto texted angrily, however Hitoshi didn’t read it because he still hadn’t recovered from the laughing fit he had. Oh, how he absolutely loved embarrassing Shouto.
I take that one as a no
Hitoshi texted back, having to hold back another bout of laughter when Shouto turned to mouthed, ‘you think?’
Why do you care anyway?
Shouto typed.
I can’t want my baby brother to get a love life
Shouto rolled his eyes, I don’t see why you care so much
Because
Solid answer
“Todoroki, Shinsou,” Cementoss’ voice broke them from their furious typing, they both looked up carefully. “Could you please put down your phones and listen to the lecture?”
“Yes, sir,” Shouto answered obediently, placing his phone into his bag. “Sorry, sir,”
Shinsou took a more causal apology, “my bad,”
Cementoss’ sighed once more, before beginning to go over their assignment for the day.
Shouto turned around to argue with Hitoshi for getting him in trouble when Hitoshi mouthed first instead, saying,
‘I will find out,’
“Care to explain what was so pressing you had to disrupt Cementoss’ class?” Aizawa stated blandly over dinner that next night.
As difficult as it may be; Aizawa, Shouto, and Hitoshi commuted between the house and the dorms frequently. The only constant in the household was Hizashi, who decided to stay home with Eri while Aizawa took care of the boys at the dorm.
So here they sat in the kitchen table, finishing up dinner before Aizawa, Shouto and Hitoshi would go back to the dorms.
“It was Hitoshi’s fault,” Shouto answered quickly.
“It was definitely Shouto’s fault,” Hitoshi drawled back.
“Wait, what happened?” Hizashi asked, confusion written across his face.
“What happened?” Eri mimicked softly.
Shouto answered, “Hitoshi was pestering me,”
“I was seeking an answer to an unanswerable question,”
“You were pestering me,”
“I never got my answer, by the way,”
Shouto grunted out in mock frustration, throwing his head back dramatically and tilting his chair on its two back legs.
“What was the question?” Aizawa asked, hesitantly. You could never be sure with Hitoshi, he had his days where he could be serious, angry, and confrontational. However, most of the time he was sassy, sarcastic and bitter.
“Oh?” Hitoshi smirked, “I was just asking who Shouto liked,”
The sound of frustration that came from Aizawa caused Hitoshi to let out a chuckle.
“And it couldn’t have waited till after class?”
“Absolutely not,” Hitoshi shook his head, “I couldn’t stop thinking about it, it was distracting me,”
Aizawa stared blankly between his two sons, before slowly turning to face Hizashi with a pleading look. Hizashi simply answered with a shrug of his shoulders and look that screamed, ‘you’re on your own,’
Eri snapped her fingers three times to get everyone’s attention, standing on her seat for more height, “What about that girl who can create things,” she guessed excitedly, jumping up and down on the seat much to Hizashi’s displeasure as he obviously attempted to get her off.
“I guessed her,” Hitoshi whined, “He said no,”
“That angry boy?”
“Why does everyone think I like Bakugou?” Shouto sighed, looking between Hitoshi and Eri.
“Maybe it’s because,” Eri started,
“You do?” Hitoshi finished.
Shouto shook his head, “Absolutely not,” he hissed, taking a sip of his drink.
“What about Midoriya?” Aizawa suggested.
Shouto choked on his drink.
Hitoshi jumped up excitedly, laughing at Shouto who was still choking on his drink and coughing hectically. “It’s Midoriya, isn’t it?”
Shouto was still choking.
“Izuku!” Eri cried, “I like Izuku! Izuku is good for you,” she nodded, pleasant with the answer.
Scrambling for his drink, Shouto tried to calm himself through his sips.
“Aizawa,” Shouto rasped after he managed to take a few solid gulps. “You betrayed me,”
“If it’s any consolation,” Aizawa murmured, “He likes you too,”
Shouto began to choke again.
“How do you know?” Hitoshi asked, “Because if you sure, Aizawa, I’m going to ask him to ask Shouto out,”
Aizawa shook his head, raising slowly from his seat he said, “I’m your teacher, have been for nearly a year, I know a lot more than you think,”
“So, you know that half the class gets totally wasted once a month?”
“What?”
“What?”
Aizawa sighed again, deciding to press the matter later. “Come on, clean up, we should get going,”
It was 12am in the dorms when Shouto got a text from Hitoshi.
So, Midoriya, huh?
Shouto weighed his options, going back and forth between telling the truth and telling Hitoshi a lie. Quickly, he texted back a
Yes.
The truth.
Good. Hitoshi texted back instantly, He’s a good guy, only the best for my little brother.
Shouto typed, please don’t say anything though
Hitoshi took awhile to respond, I won’t. But you should ask him out because between you and me,
He has a crush on you too.
This time it took Shouto a while to respond, because he slammed his face into a pillow and screamed so loud he was sure everyone in the dorms could hear him. He felt giddy, as if he was a young girl getting her feelings requited.
It wasn’t far off.
After he composed himself, he saw he received another text from Hitoshi.
Did you just screech?
Maybe was Shouto immediate reply.
Seek help Hitoshi responded blandly, before returning to the original topic. Ask him out on a date, he’ll say yes
Shouto nodded, as if Hitoshi could see him from where he was, I will. Thank you.
Then as an afterthought, he texted, on the subject of crushes
As if sensing where the conversation was heading, Hitoshi responded instantly with a, Oh dear
Do you like Ashido?
When Hitoshi didn’t respond, Shouto decided to try a different name.
Do you like Ojiro?
This time, Hitoshi’s response was quick,
Goodnight, Shouto!
Shouto laughed to himself.
He was so going to get them together.
