Maya Fey adores practical jokes, something that exasperates Phoenix Wright. For as long as he has known her, Maya has found silly practical jokes and pranks totally hilarous, and Phoenix wonders if it has something to do with her rather isolated upbringing.
But whatever the reason, she just adores this sort of humour. Some people would find this annoying, but Phoenix loves his girlfriend so much he just kind of… puts up with her silly sense of humour.
Not a week goes by when Maya doesn’t do some kind of practical joke; to the surprise of no one, her main target for these silly jokes is Phoenix.
One day, he sits down at his desk, and a huge farting sound fills the office.
“Got you, Nick!” Maya cries, howling with laughter.
Phoenix stands up, and realises he just sat on a whoopee cushion. He rolls his eyes. “Very funny, Maya.”
Another day, Phoenix wanders into the bathroom to use the toilet, and realises just in time that the toilet bowl is covered with a sheet of cling film.
“Maya!”
Maya appears, sticking her head through the doorway. She grins mischievously. “Yes, Nick?”
He turns to face her, raising an eyebrow. “Was this, by any chance, your doing?”
Maya laughs and give Phoenix a hug. “Yeah, ‘course it was.”
Things only get worse when Pearls catches on to Maya’s practical joke obsession, because Pearls always wants to copy her Mystic Maya. So now Phoenix has two people constantly pranking him: his assistant and girlfriend, Maya, and Maya’s adorable young cousin, Pearl.
Again, some people might be driven mad by this, especially when Pearls puts salt in his coffee instead of sugar.
“Got you, Mr Nick!” she giggles as he gags.
But not Phoenix. He just smiles, amused by his bizarre office.
