Chapter Text

Mr Edgeworth moved back into his office this morning, and Sebastian can’t wait to visit him. he’s thanked Mr Edgeworth for what he did for him so many times he has lost count, but he still wants to actually go to Mr Edgeworth’s newly reclaimed office, and congratulate the man he admires so much for getting his badge back.
Still, irrational anxiety clenches in his stomach as Sebastian knocks on the door, because he is the sort of person he gets anxious about everything.
“Come in,” Mr Edgeworth calls, and Sebastian opens the door.
Stepping into the room, Sebastian’s eyes lock onto Mr Edgworth and he smiles. “Hello, Mr Edgeworth.”
“Hello, Sebastian,” Mr Edgeworth says with a curt nod.
“Hi!” says Kay Faraday, jumping up from the couch.
Sebastian smiles awkwardly at the ever-hyperactive girl. “Hello. Mr Edgeworth, I just wanted to… congratulate you again.”
“I never would have expected that,” Mr Edgeworth says, but he smiles. “Thank you, Sebastian.”
He smiles, glancing around the office, the office of the man who helped rescue Sebastian from his father and tears fill his eyes.
“Oh, don’t cry, Sebastian,” Kay says, rushing towards him. And when the tears spill over, Kay wraps him in a tight hug. “It’s okay.”
And Sebastian blushes, especially when Mr Edgeworth hands him a tissue. He doesn’t mean to cry, but… he’s just so happy.

Ever since the huge case that saved Sebastian and got several horrible people arrested, he has spent a lot of time with Kay Faraday. It still amazes him that they are the same age, because they act so differently, not that he minds. And Sebastian has begun to realise that he and Kay have become friends.
He… he has never had a friend before, and he can’t even begin to explain how amazing it feels to spend time with someone who actually likes him and puts up with his nerves and his habit to burst into tears. It’s amazing.
“Why do you like me, Kay?” he asks one day, not long after Kay entered his office through the window.
“Because you’re… you’re nice,” Kay says, smiling. “You’re kind to everyone and I feel so safe with you and… Look, I don’t need a reason, okay. I just like you.”
Sebastian smiles slightly, his cheeks flushing. “Th-Thank you.”
“And your blushing thing is adorable.”
Did she just call him adorable?
“You know, speaking of liking you, Seb,” Kay continues, using a nickname she gave to him last month (which Sebastian kind of loves). “I’ve… I’ve got something to ask you.”
“Y-Yes?”
Kay leans closer, her face going pink. “Would you like to go out with me?”
Sebastian stares at her, eyes wide. “Do you mean… like a date?”
“Of course I do!” Kay says, grinning. “What d’you think?”
He keeps staring at her, unable to believe this. Kay… wants to go on a date with him? A girl as clever and kind and pretty as Kay wants to date him? This… is amazing.
“I’d…” Sebastian tries to speak, but cuts himself off when a lump appears in his throat. His eyes fill with tears, and his breathing starts to shudder. “I…”
“Oh, please don’t cry,” Kay says.
But he does cry. The tears spilling over, Sebastian smiles and whispers, “I… I would l-love that. Thank you so much.”
And as a grin spreads across her face, Kay doesn’t hesitate to wrap Sebastian in a tight hug.

As they exit the stadium, hands linked so they don’t lose each other in the crowds, Sebastian looks at Kay. His girlfriend looks even prettier than usual when dressed up for a concert, and it is hard to take his eyes off of her.
Right now, Kay hums ‘Guilty Love’ and nods her head to the beat. “That song is so catchy. It’s gonna be in my head for weeks.”
“Yes, this isn’t my sort of music,” says Sebastian, who everyone knows is a huge classical music buff. “But the Gavinners are impressive. What was the lead singer’s name again?”
“Oh, you mean Klavier.”
“Yes, Klavier’s voice is amazing. ‘Guilty Love’ is worth being stuck in our heads for weeks.”
Kay laughs. “Yeah, you’re right. And Klavier’s really hot, don’t you think?”
Sebastian blushes, blushing harder when he thinks about the young man about the same age as him and Kay. “Um… he is rather handsome.”
But the moment the words leave his mouth, it hits him. It’s not normal for a man to think another man handsome. Yes, he knows he is bisexual, but he has long surprised it because he knew his father would take it badly if he came out. Kay must have worked it out. Would she want to date a bisexual person? Oh no, has he messed everything up?
“Seb, are you okay?” Kay asks, squeezing his hand. “Do you like-like Klavier?”
Sebastian nods slowly, and tears run down his cheeks.
“Hey, that’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” she says, wrapping Sebastian in a tight cuddle. “Are you bi?”
Sebastian nods, the tears still flowing.
“It’s okay. Look, Seb, I’m bi too, you know.”
“R-Really?”
“Yeah, so stop that crying. Please.”
It takes a while, but with Kay’s arms around him, Sebastian manages to stop sobbing.

“Kay?” Sebastian says.
He and Kay have been in a relationship for two months, but they have yet to kiss. It might just be because he’s shy, but… Sebastian has to worry he might be disappointing Kay by not giving her a kiss. So even though the thought of having a first kiss kind of terrifies him, he wants to do it. Not just for Kay, but for himself, because… he’s never had a first kiss and he thinks they must be wonderful.
“Yeah?” Kay says, looking away from the TV in her small, comfortable apartment. “Hey, you look worried. Are you okay?”
Sebastian shrugs his shoulders, forcing himself to smile. “I think so. Can I ask something of you?”
“Sure thing,” Kay says, shuffling closer.
“Um…” His face burns and Sebastian wants to run away. But he stays put, takes Kay’s hand and says, “Can I kiss you?”
A huge grin spreads across Kay’s face. “Of course you can!”
“I… I don’t really know how,” he admits, blushing even redder.
“It’s okay. I’ll show you,” Kay says, and she leans closer.
Putting a hand on the back of his neck, Kay pulls them closer together and their lips meet. It feels amazing in the strangest way, and Sebastian smiles at the simple action of touching lips with Kay. The kiss is chaste, and soon Kay pulls away.
Grinning, she says, “How was that?”
“It was… wonderful,” Sebastian says, so happy he can’t put it into words.
When a tear leaks down his face, he isn’t surprised; he cries when happy too.
Without saying a word, Kay wipes the tear away with her thumb and hugs him tightly. And even though he’s crying, Sebastian can’t remember the last time he felt this happy.
