Listening to his daughter sobbing over the phone is utter agony, and Phoenix finds his voice shaking with the effort of suppressing tears as he says, “I’m so glad you’re safe, Truce.”
“It’s all because of Polly and Athena – they saved me, Daddy.”
“I know, and I’m so grateful,” Phoenix whispers, and the relief that his daughter is safe finally sends tears trickling down his face.
