It was Marinette's fault her mom fell under these idiots' scrutiny in the first place, but she had done all she could to fix it. There was no reason for them to treat her this way except for pure selfishness, their ignorance blinding them to reason, leading them to harm, the harm of her mom - her mother, who leaves the laundry basket as the bottom of the stairs to catch her when she inevitably falls every morning, who supports her no matter what, the only one who can get her dad to back off when he’s being overprotective, who always fights for justice wherever she can and plans things to the letter, who taught her to be a hero in a thousand small ways her entire life and gave her the strength to be herself.
Her mother, who gave her everything, is on the other side of a battlefield alone and in pain, and Marinette would give up her miraculous point blank if it meant she never had to feel that way again.
Or, Marinette detransforms to calm her mother and prove her innocence, but everyone still refuses to listen. She maybe loses her temper a bit, and Chat Noir has no idea how to feel about it.
