Bakugou slammed his hands onto the desk, smoke coming off of his palms. “How the hell have you gone your entire shitty life without reading or watching fucking Harry Potter?” he roared.
Kirishima simply shrugged, amused with Bakugou’s antics. “I don’t know, bro. I kept planning to watch it, but it never happened.”
Bakugou scowled deeply. “Well I guess today is your lucky fucking day.” Without warning, he snatched Kirishima’s wrist and pulled him along, failing to notice the red tinge that colored his friend’s face when they made contact.
“Okay, where are we going?” Bakugou didn’t answer, unsurprisingly. Oh well, Kirishima was content to be dragged along and find things out for himself.
They stopped in the dorms living room. “Sit,” Bakugou commanded, pointing at the couch. Kirishima rolled his eyes, but sat anyways. Bakugou stalked off and returned a few moments later, arms full of movies. He piled them onto the coffee table.
“We’re going to watch these,” he said bluntly. Kirishima grinned and gave him a thumbs up. And that’s how the Harry Potter marathon began.
For the rest of the day, they binged the entire movie series in order. Kirishima found himself deep in the story and invested in the character’s struggles and triumphs. He gasped and chuckled and cheered, while Bakugou watched him for his reactions. And if Kirishima had been paying more attention to the person sitting beside him, he might have noticed the small, soft smile that occasionally crossed his face.
Their friends drifted in and out of the room. Jirou peeked in for a bit around the first movie, smiling when she recognized the material. Tsu and Uraraka stayed for the longest, for the first and second movies, which Tsu said were her favorite. Kaminari tried to sit through some of it, but ultimately succumbed to his ADHD and left. Todoroki and Midoriya were there for the end of the fourth movie and most of the fifth. Midoriya was wearing Gryffindor socks and had a matching pin with a roaring lion. He told Kirishima that as kids, he and Bakugou both loved the Harry Potter series and begged their parents to watch the movies in the theaters.
The marathon went on well into the night. While the others had turned in for the night, Bakugou and Kirishima clung to consciousness, determined to get through it. Bakugou amused himself by popping kernels at the bottom of the popcorn bowl. Eventually, he found that he was fighting back yawns. Well, he could close his eyes for a little bit. He had seen these movies tons of times, he wasn’t missing anything. He could just listen to it
Kirishima was shocked out of his Harry Potter-induced trance by Bakugou’s head of blonde hair hitting his shoulder. He allowed himself to stare for a moment. Unlike while awake, Bakugou’s face was completely relaxed, peaceful. Kirishima hoped he was having good dreams, whatever those were to Bakugou. However, he didn’t think that Bakugou’s current position had to be that comfortable. He slowly tried to remove himself from the couch, while setting Bakugou’s head down gently. He lived, so a job well done, he thought.
“Get back here, Shitty Hair,” Bakugou mumbled, making Kirishima jump.
“Uh,” Kirishima said eloquently. “S-sorry I woke you up, dude, uh, could you run that by me again?”
Bakugou squinted tiredly up at him, and Kirishima’s heart jumped. There was something in Bakugou’s eyes that Kirishima very rarely saw from him, an urgency, the kind of thing that a child would feel at the prospect of being left alone for too long. “Please,” Bakugou said, in a tone that was only reserved for certain circumstances.
“Have the nightmares been bothering you recently?” Kirishima asked softly.
Bakugou only nodded. Ever since the kidnapping fiasco, Bakugou had developed a form of PTSD, usually taking the form of nightmares. When he has those dreams, he can’t fall asleep again without someone else with him. While Mina, Sero, and Kaminari were all popular candidates, more often than not, Bakugou went to Kirishima first. Perhaps it was because Kirishima had rescued him, or maybe it was because he was probably the least likely to wreck something by accident, though Kirishima wasn’t sure about how truthful that was. That didn’t matter. This was Bakugou, and Kirishima could never turn his back on him, no matter how prickly he could be.
“Okay, I’ll pull up a cha-”
“No. Want you here.” Bakugou pouted at him.
Oh. Now here was something new. Bakugou wasn’t a very physically affectionate person, anyone could tell you that much. He usually only showed it in the form of slightly less rough punches to the arm or cuffs to the head, or the occasional high-five or fistbump. Bakugou sometimes couldn’t sleep in an empty room, but he had never asked to have his hand held or his back rubbed, or god forbid, a hug.
Kirishima felt a bit overwhelmed. His cheeks and neck felt hot. Still, he couldn’t say he was against this new development. “Alright, scoot over.”
They were so close. Bakugou was practically laying on top of him, and Kirishima could feel his warm breath on his cheek. “You comfortable?” he asked.
“Cold,” Bakugou muttered.
Without thinking of the consequences and very possible scorched facial features that could have resulted, Kirishima put his arms around Bakugou, over his back and waist. If it hadn’t been so dark, he might have seen Bakugou turn a deep scarlet. “Better?”
“Wh-whatever. You’re a decent heater, I guess.”
Kirishima chuckled lowly. “Goodnight, Blasty.”
~~~
“Should we wake them up?” Kaminari asked.
“Nah, man,” Sero said. “Maybe now they’ll finally stop dancing around each other.”
Mina giggled. “I don’t know about that, but I’m totally taking pictures.” She took out her phone and started snapping shot after shot. “They’re so cute together!”
By the start of class, everyone had been sent the pictures of Bakugou and Kirishima, Bakugou resting his head on Kirishima’s chest, Kirishima with his arms around the other boy. And when the two of them walked in, everyone smiled a little to themselves. They had already placed their bets.
