Struggle

Summary:

Sebastian struggles after going to therapy for the first time.

Work Text:

Therapy is hard. As someone who has never been through it before, Sebastian didn’t know how difficult therapy is. But now he knows, and he can confirm that it is one of the most difficult things he has ever done.

The therapy was all Kay’s idea. His lovely girlfriend, after helping him calm down after a panic attack, suggested he should go to therapy for his anxiety and to try and work through the abuse his father put him through. And because Sebastian loves Kay, he agreed.

But he has just got back from his first session, and he doesn’t know if he can go back anymore. The therapist was a lovely woman, but dredging up his past was… horrible. She got him to talk about his father and the horrible things he did to Sebastian, and he started crying in her office and fiddled with baton to stop himself having a meltdown.

And even now the tears have stopped, Sebastian can’t stop trembling.

When Kay gets home, she must sense something’s wrong, because she dashes over, jumps onto the couch and wraps her arms around Sebastian.

“Seb, how’d it go? Are you okay?”

And as he sits in his wonderful girlfriend’s embrace, tears fill his sore eyes all over again. Sebastian breaks down sobbing, tears running down his cheeks.

“It… it was so difficult. We talked about horrible things and I cried and, and I feel even worse than before.”

He sniffs and Kay rubs his back, holding him close.

“Ssh, it’s okay. I know it was hard, Seb, but it’ll get better. I promise. We just have to aim for the day you won’t feel so scared anymore. And… hey, I can come next time. How’s that sound?”

Sebastian looks at her, and smiles weakly. “G-Good. Thanks, Kay.”
