Day 5 - Overly Bundled Up for the Weather

Summary:

Mob has to walk home, but didn't bring a coat.

Work Text:

“Mob, you need to bundle up, it’s cold out there,” Reigen said, closing his laptop with a quiet click.

“Huh? It wasn’t cold when I left,” he shrugged.

“Do you have a coat?” Reigen asked.

“I have a hoodie on,” Mob said, pinching the fabric of his light blue hoodie.

“I know, but it’s freezing outside,” Reigen responded, rising up from his desk chair. “This is the worst cold front we’ve had in ages.”

“Thankfully Tome, Ritsu, and your boyfriend brought a bunch of your clothes over in preparation for times like this. You’re lucky to have such considerate people in your life, Mob,” Reigen smiled softly, opening the door to the closet in his small office.

Mob blushed slightly at the mention of his boyfriend. He watched as Reigen dug through the dark closet, muttering to himself.

“Here we go, put this sweater on. It’s wool, so it’ll be warmer than your hoodie,” Reigen told him, his gaze remaining fixed on the clothes inside the closet as he passed the sweater back to the boy.

Mob accepted the sweater, merely pulling it on over his hoodie instead of taking the hoodie off, figuring it would be warmer to just wear his hoodie.

“Here’s a scarf, too,” Reigen chirped, handing Mob a long, blue and white striped scarf. He wordlessly took the scarf, wrapping it around his neck.

“Take your coat, too. Can’t forget that!”

“Oh, and a hat,” Reigen suggested.

“How about earmuffs?” He muttered, nonchalantly tossing them behind him.

“You need gloves, too. And some boots, or else your feet will get cold,” Reigen muttered, digging through the bin of Mob’s stuff on the floor of the closet.

“Do you want some warm socks? Here are the ones that Teru bought for you.”

Soon, he’d already reached the bottom of the bin, staring down at the T-shirts, pants, shorts, and hoodies folded into neat stacks.

Reigen turned to look at Mob, who was buried under layer upon layer of winter clothes. His face and hair was barely visible, and his mouth and neck were covered by the scarf. His body looked oversized, the coat atop his hoodie and the shirt he wore underneath it.

Reigen laughed, looking down at the overly bundled-up Mob.

“Master, I can’t move,” Mob told him, his voice muffled by the scarf.

“Sorry, I just wanted you to be warm. I know I’d get an earful from everyone who knows you if you walked home without a coat,” Reigen laughed.

“Thanks, Master,” Mob smiled softly, unzipping his coat and removing his knitted hat slowly, placing them back in the bin.

Reigen wanted to apologize for being overbearing, but decided against it, as he wasn’t really the type to apologize with words.

Besides, Mob knew Reigen was just looking out for him, and that he only wanted the best.

As he stood leaning against his desk, lost in sentimental thoughts over the boy that had almost become like a son to him at this point, the kid’s voice pulled him back to reality.

Mob was standing by the door, his mittened hand resting on the doorknob.

“I’m leaving now,” Mob said in his usual flat tone.

“Okay,” Reigen smiled.

“Stay warm.”

“You too, Master.”
