Work Text:

Yamada arrives at their meeting place, outside the train station, earlier than she needs too, and sits down on a bench, not sure how to pass the time until Kase arrives. She knows she’s early, but she just couldn’t wait. She loves spending time with Kase, especially outside of school or their hobbies. Of course, she loves it when Kase helps her tend to the flowers and she loves watching Kase run, but the times when they just… hang out are the best of all. Honestly, she never tires of spending time with her wonderful girlfriend.

She hunches forwards slightly on the bench, and finds her leg bouncing like a coiled spring rests under the heel of her shoe. Her leg always bounces when she’s stressed or bored, but she thinks the cause has to be the former. After all, she never normally goes out in public like this.

It’s 7pm, and the sunset is fast approaching, turning the sky beautiful shades of orange and red. and Yamada wears a dress Kase helped her pick out last week (Kase went bright red when she went into the changing rooms and saw Yamada in her underwear, and Yamada grinned despite her own embarrassment), a dress that just so happens to be the same colour as the sky right now. She’s never really worn red-orange dresses before, but Kase said she looked beautiful, and, looking in the mirror, Yamada was amazed how… mature the dress made her look. Added to the dress, she’s actually wearing makeup, her lips covered in soft pink lipstick and mascara coating her eyelashes, and she has to keep reminding herself not to rub her face, lest she smudge her makeup. She’s even got orange nail polish on her short, bitten nails, and Yamada hopes she doesn’t look like a little girl playing dress up with her mom’s clothes and makeup. She wants to look older than her sixteen years, to look like a woman instead of a rather immature teenager who still goes red when her girlfriend holds her hand.

Yamada lets out a slow breath, her leg bouncing faster. When Kase gets here, they’re going to take the train into the city centre and see a movie. And it’s going to be so amazing to sit in a dark movie theatre with her girlfriend as they watch a rom-com, and Yamada blushes when she imagines them sharing the same drink and their fingers meeting in the popcorn bag and Kase pressing kisses to her face whilst the people around them can’t see.

She checks the time on her cell phone, realising it’s almost time for Kase to arrive. Yamada stands up and scans her surroundings – and sees her.

Kase appears around the corner, and Yamada’s heart flutters. Her girlfriend wears smart blue pants, boots with actual heels (is this going to make their height difference even more obvious?) and a turquoise blouse. As she gets closer, Yamada makes out a blue bangle around her right wrist, and a simple black handbag across her shoulders. She’s even got a blue and white checked tenugui tied around her neck, and she looks so amazing and cool and beautiful that Yamada can’t help but stare.

Kase gives a little wave and hurries over, where she leans down and presses a kiss to Yamada’s cheek.

“You look absolutely beautiful,” Kase says, pressing another kiss to her lips.

Yamada blushes. “I, uh, was about to say the same to you. You look… amazing in that outfit, Kase-san.”

It’s Kase’s turn to blush, and Yamada smiles, reaching for her girlfriend’s hand.

“Well, then, should we go?” Kase says.

“Sure thing,” Yamada says, grinning.
