Chapter Text
This must not be a very popular station, is what Hizashi first thought when he tuned into the radio channel. It was pretty hard to find among the other staticky channels between popular radio stations. It was an accident really when he first stumbled across the channel.
He had been messing with his station's radio during a break when he had happened upon the static-filled channel. The blond was going to turn it when an impossibly young voice came crackling through the speakers, sounding so surprised and happy, "Hello! Hi! Ummm.Thank you for tuning into Watch and Analyze! This is your host Deku speaking! I am Here! To analyze a new hero to the scene!"
The voice hero jumped upon hearing the sudden greeting and exclamations. Kami-sama, the voice sounded so young..how old could this kid be? And that was really weird. It sounded as if the host had greeted him personally the moment he tuned in. But that was silly, there was no way the kid could know Hizashi had just tuned in. Deku must have one of those little toy radio sets that splice into old channels to make the kids feel like they are actual hosts. That's all.
Hizashi nodded to himself happy with the conclusion before blinking thoughtfully as he listened to Deku's analyst of the new hero Kamui Woods. How did this kid know so much about a new hero? The voice hero was pretty sure Kamui had only debuted last week. Huh, unless the kid is some kinda hacker or a major stalker, Hizashi was pretty sure Deku shouldn't have this much info.
He couldn't help but think something was odd about this whole thing as he listened to the kid gush about the newest hero's quirk and debut. Really some of the things Deku said about Kamui's quirk and fighting style made a lot of sense, even though Mic hadn't personally worked with the new hero yet. He still pays attention to debuts and documented hero fights, never know when he would need to know how to work around another hero's fighting style and their quirk. The blond frowned thoughtfully as he continued to listen to the broadcast on his headphones while he continued his own show, it wasn't that hard to multitask. Considering he had three jobs, one should be able to believe he could multitask like a pro. After all, he does grade his students' English Papers during his show a lot.
The kid, Deku, analyzed a bunch of new villains and heroes that just debuted with surprising accuracy and he doubted it was because of a quirk..something just didn't set right with him. The normally loud man was quiet at the end of his show, after all, it was 2 am and yet Deku was still talking. How was the kid able to talk so long without stopping? He didn't sound tired at all, nor had he paused it seemed for breath or to eat. Plus, didn't the kid have a bedtime? What about school?
He couldn't help but think the last bit out loud as he stared at the little radio on his station's desk, "Geez, little listener, don't you sleep?"
As if hearing his words, Deku stuttered, which caught Hizashi's attention as Deku hadn't stuttered once during his broadcast, "A-and that concludes the latest takedown by the rising duo Freezerburn. Ummmm, thank you for tuning in tonight! This is Deku signing off!"
Hizashi blinked when soon the kid's voice was replaced by static white noise again, which left the blond confused at the sudden sign-off.
That was odd, wasn't it?
He shook his head, must just be his sleep-deprived brain talking. Best get home before his husband rants at him. For a guy who barely sleeps himself, Shouta was such a mother hen when it comes Hizashi's health.
Unseen to the blond, the little radio's tuning dial slowly turned before switching off as a soft voice spoke, "Thank you."
