Work Text:
Hizashi stayed crouched behind the debris, his leather jacket pulled over his head to cover his blonde hair which was visible, even with the poor light pouring in from the hallway. Hizashi was thankful that the black leather of his costume making it easier for him to blend into the darkness of the ruined classroom as someone with heavy boots walk by.
The gaping holes in the wall allowed him to track the unknown individual as they continued to walk down the hallway and away from him. The footsteps became distant but Hizashi didn’t move from his spot.
He had done a quick survey of the floor when he had arrived on scene and found that the hallways were interconnected at several points on the floor but each end stopped at a solid wall. In other words, there was only one way in and one way out from the floor, which was the main staircase that was connected to all of the floors.
He clicked his tongue; sending small waves of ultrasonic sound that couldn’t be heard by the human ear into the room before they bounced into the hallway. It had been an interesting discovery to learn that he could produce a high-frequency sound and use it as a crude version of echolocation.
But just because he would produce the sound didn’t mean he could hear it. That had involved a lot of man hours from the Support course and from himself in order to create the headphones that would allow him to hear the frequency and then many hours of practice until he could decipher, based on timing, pitch and delay, what the recovered sound waves meant.
Click-click-click click click-click
Hizashi counted the seconds in between the incoming clicks and smiled. The unknown individual had backtracked, taking a different hallway and was heading back in this direction, but this time, they had muffled their footsteps. Hizashi guessed this was because they knew the general area of where he was and was trying to make him reveal himself, believing it was safe.
Hizashi grabbed a cable that was lying at his feet and slowly began to pull. The cable scraped across the floor, the sound almost defeating in the tense silence. The cable went taunt before becoming loose as the sound of something crashing to the floor echoed in the distance.
There was silence before the sounds of pounding footsteps as someone ran towards the sound. Hizashi smiled before slowly getting to his feet and making his way towards the door. Taking a quick look left and then right, Hizashi sped walk, while trying to keep silent, as he made his way towards the staircase.
The buzzing and the flickering of the poor quality fluorescence lights overhead seem to make every shadow look darker and the sounds someone in the distance louder. Hizashi made his way to where the entrance/exit to the main staircase was. Another cable was there, but this one was not in the original position that Hizashi had left it early; it had been moved. No doubt by the unknown individual from early.
Quickly grabbing that cable, Hizashi pulled it so that it laid in the main intersection of the hallway and ducked into a nearby room, hiding again a flipped over desk. It was silent for a few minutes before Hizashi heard approaching footsteps that were going at a steady pace before they abruptly stopped; they had noticed the moved cable.
The footsteps of someone running towards the intersection made Hizashi squirm in relief; it would be soon over and he would be free. Pulling his phone out of the pants pocket and making sure the light of the screen couldn’t be seen from his position, he unlocked it and sent the premade text to his partner.
If everything would go according to plan, his partner would have received and read the text by the time the person got to the intersection. They would reply back the decided code word and-
This phone light up and Hizashi frowned. The timing was off. The screen relit again as another text came in and then a few seconds later, another one.
Hizashi tensed. It had been decided that they would use bare communicate with each other. If his partner was sending texts and going against the set plan that meant-
His phone went off again and Hizashi looked to see what the message was.
Gotcha!
Hizashi stared at the text in confusion before he heard someone rush into the room and see them slam into the desk that he had been hiding behind. The desk smacked into Hizashi, causing him to lose his balance and fall to the floor. Someone continued to push against the desk with enough force that he hit the wall with a loud THWACK, making him see stars.
A large hand grabbed him by the shirt and he was lifted high from the ground as if he weighed nothing.
“You forget I have good ears, Yamada, just as the Big Bad Wolf, all the better to hear you with my dear,” purred a deep voice. Hizashi recognized that voice; it was Torahiku, a student in his class that had a mutation quirk that made him look, and sometimes even act, like a tiger. And one of the things that tigers, and all cats included, had going for them was good hearing. Hizashi could have kicked himself. Torahiku didn’t guess where he was, he had known actually where he was the moment he had used his echolocation.
Hizashi took in a deep breath, placed his tongue behind his teeth and whistled.
The hand that was holding him up stiffen before Hizashi was suddenly let go, landing awkwardly on the desk. Using this chance, he took in a larger breath and whistled at an even higher pitch, causing Torahiku to growl and hiss as he tried to use his hands to block the sound. Cats had sensitive hearing and for the most part, would run away from things that caused them discomfort; Torahiku wasn’t as smart though and continued to try and block the sound out with his hands.
Grabbing an aerosol can from his jacket’s pocket; he shoved it into Torahiku’s face and pressed the nozzle. A purple gas escaped from the aerosol, covering Torahiku’s face who spluttered undignified, as he inhaled the gas.
Hizashi saw his Torahiku’s eyes glaze over as he began to sway before falling over onto his side. Hizashi grinned and made a mental note to thank Kayama properly for allowing the Support course students to bottle her gas into an aerosol to be used as an odd sleeping gas tool.
Hizashi took his jacket off his head and slipped it on so that he was wearing it properly. If Torahiku had found him and let his partner know that (if the text Gotcha was anything to go by), then there wasn’t a reason for using stealth anymore. His position had been compromised and his partner had been no doubt captured. So now it was just him and Torahiku’s partner. There were few people who could go up against Sukunako’s quirk, Green Bean, and not fail completely in the Hero course but most were in 1-B. The only person who could easily match Sukunado’s martial arts skill and neutralize her quirk was…..
Hizashi felt as if a light bulb had gone off. Who else could get along so well with Torahiku’s bad attitude and knew how he would think, plan and act.
Hizashi let out a huff. Well, two could play that game. And if his guess was correct, then he knew where they would be hiding. Running out of the room and towards the stairs, Hizashi tried to think of strategies to use only to dismiss them. He couldn’t use stealth as his cover had been blown; his partner had been defeated so no backup, his quirk would be neutralized the moment he got to the right floor. Every possible logical move would be countered and he would be defeated.
And just like that, another light bulb went off in his head. If every logical move could be countered, then what about an illogical move?
Hizashi went to the third floor, where a door labelled security was and kicked it down. There, tied to a chair, was Sukunado. She had been positioned on the second floor where an indoor garden had been. Her quirk would have been able to use the now thriving weeds as tools. But looks like-
Something heavy slammed into his side, knocking him clean off his feet and causing him to slide across the floor. Hizashi took in a deep breath only to feel the familiar tightness in his throat as the muscles and vocal cords were forced to contract.
Hizashi couldn’t help but smile as he saw Shouta frown, his eyes glowing red to ensure Hizashi didn’t use his quirk. Hizashi unsteadily got to his feet and rushed Shouta.
Hizashi could see the surprise on Shouta’s face, not anticipating that Hizashi would try to take him head-on. Though Hizashi was top of the class with marks and his quirk was powerful, he lacked the physical strength and endurance in an all-out brawl. But he still had his imagination as he jumped, slamming into Shouta, knocking him off his feet and onto his back.
Hizashi could feel the air rush out of Shouta’s lung, the air (and bad breath) fanning on his face as he held Shouta’s face with both hands. Shouta could give a pained grimace before Hizashi shoved his lips on Shouta’s.
The reaction was instant. Shouta went stiff, unsure of what to do and his eyes wide as Hizashi continued to try and kiss Shouta. Well, kiss would have been a stretch to describe what it actually was. It was more of a mashing of lips with teeth and having noses and glasses dig uncomfortably into each other’s cheeks.
Shouta squirmed underneath Hizashi and he couldn’t help but unconscious bit his lip at the action......except he ended up biting Shouta’s lips instead of his own. Hizashi could feel Shouta opening his mouth in shock and decided to take the plunge, shoving his tongue into Shouta’s mouth. Shouta made an odd choking/grunting sound at the intrusion and bit down on Hizashi’s tongue, hard.
Hizashi jerked his head back, the bit making his entire mouth sting.
“What the ever loving f-! What the hell Hizashi!?” Shouta snapped, his teeth bared in aggression.
Hizashi did want to reply back but was honestly lost in the scene before him. Shouta’s cheeks were pink, his breath coming in short pants as he still continued to squirm beneath him (and didn’t that feel nice to a hormonal teenager) and his lips looked red and, well….kissable.
He started the lean forward to kiss Shouta again and Shouta seemed to be trying to lean away from Hizashi, seeing what he was trying to do before there was a quiet clink and a chattering of something metal falling to the floor.
“So um…….. can we just finish this exercise?” asked a nervous voice.
In the time that Hizashi had been kissing Shouta, he had completely forgotten about Sukunado.
“Um…..yeah, Suku-chan, can you grab the cuffs from my back pocket?” Hizashi asked, his eyes not leaving Shouta’s.
As Sukunado grabbed the cuffs from the pocket of his jacket, Hizashi could see the silent promise in Shouta’s eyes. This wasn’t over. Shouta wouldn’t be forgetting this stunt for a long, long time. Hizashi audibly swallowed as he felt a ball of dread grow in his stomach. What had he gotten himself into?
