Chapter Text
“Hey, hey, hey little one” Seokjin whispered as he materialized behind him and captured Jungkook in his arms with powerful ease. “What did I say? No daylight or you will slowly turn into ashes.”
Jungkook sighed and struggled a little but he knew that there was no escape from the arms enveloping him, Jin was too powerful. He woke up feeling restless and managed to sneak out from his room and navigate through the cold and dark manor trying to avoid all 6 of the other vampires in the clan. His goal was to spend at least 5 minutes outside, step on the grass and breathe in the gentle breeze after spending more than a week confined in the dark.
“It’s cloudy hyung, I just need some fresh air”
Jin sighed and shook his head turning him around and giving him an adoring look. Jungkook suppressed a shudder, he was still getting used to the head vampire vibrant, burgundy eyes and his presence that seemed to take on a lot more than what was physically visible.
“Clarity will damage your skin beloved, being patient will bring it’s rewards. You are still getting used to…”
“…My new vampire body, yeah I know” Jungkook muttered looking down at the pristine wooden floor in feigned defeat.
“That’s right” Seokjin smiled pleased. “Did you feed today?” He asked, his thumb caressing Jungkook’s sharp jawline, his other hand gripping tight on his shoulder.
The younger shook his head again. Drinking blood was still not sitting right with him, his body craved it oh yes it did but after a few gulps he would feel nauseous for a few hours and even retch it out sometimes.
“My poor baby is blood still unpleasant to your stomach?” The head vampire asked, something in his pale features demonstrating genuine feelings of concern. Jungkook got lost in his beautiful face, like it usually happened. He was infatuated with all of them.
“Yes, it is”
Jin held his face between his gelid, cold hands and kissed him softly on the lips.
“You’ve got to feed baby. It will pass I promise”
Jungkook nodded, his eyelids dropping and his body feeling weaker by the second. Oh no. He knew this feeling, Seokjin was messing up with his head again, making him fall into a temporary slumber.
“N…no…”
“Shhh…You should be resting and not worrying my love, you’ll feed later”
Jungkook tried to fight it, he tried to blink the fog away from his vision but he couldn’t and his body fell limp into his hyung's waiting arms.
“I knew that he was going to be a disobedient brat”
Seokjin sighed and turned around carrying Jungkook in his arms, bridal style. He glared at the vampire getting closer to them.
“You know I despise that attitude Yoongi dear”
The vampire ignored the comment and sniffed the air frowning somewhat confused.
“He’s on his ninth day after the bite…still giving you trouble? Sounds like you may have turned the wrong one, hyung”
“He will see, Yoongi. He will, just needs time. Need I remind you of how stubborn you were back in France when I turned you?”
But Yoongi didn’t had time to reply, both vampires sensed a familiar presence getting closer and turned around in it’s direction.
“Yoongi hyung stop being like this, you very well know this is exactly who we were waiting for”
Jimin came up to them, sneakily materializing from the shadows like he loved to do. Jin disapproved of any use of the abilities unless absolutely necessary but he stopped fighting Jimin (and the rest of them) about it decades ago. Vampire existence wasn't under constant threat anymore, there was (he supposed) no need to actually save up their energy.
Jimin came up to their newest addition, the baby vampire and softly brushed his beautiful, healthy hair back. His deep red eyes with specs of gold were fixed on Jungkook’s features, his lips slightly parted in awe.
“He’s a dream that became true” Jimin whispered and Jin inhaled, suddenly filled with love and adoration for his nest mates and yes that included Yoongi and his attitude.
“Yes he is, Jimin”
Jimin beamed up at him, those smiles that used to come out so easy during his human life, now reserved only for them in the sanctuary of their home.
Jungkook whined on the low, interrupting their loving stare down. All three vampires looked at their vampire baby and could faintly see the nightmares swimming under his fluttery eyelids.
“They just won’t stop” Jimin mumbled, the worry sipping into his chest like poison.
Jin just kept quiet, his frown a tell tale of the developing bond and therefore the shared pains and worries. He simply nodded and walked away through a hallway and dissapeared in the shadows, his eyes never parting from Jungkook’s sleeping face. Yoongi was gone as well.
Jimin sensed Taehyung way before he opened the entrance door and he checked the standing clock on his right. 4pm. Not a good moment to be out there wandering, Jimin would rather avoid the outside but Taehyung was a free spirit, he loved to have a nice stroll once in a while. After all they found him bleeding out to death in a open field, a bouquet of freshly cut flowers slowly falling from his hand many, many years ago.
He didn’t want to make Taehyung think he was worrying or following his endeavors so Jimin slowly walked upstairs towards the library where he found Yoongi, his nose buried in a book. Jimin didn’t recognize the language, the book was torn and very old by the looks of it.
“Hyung-nim”
Yoongi didn’t even look at him but Jimin knew after all this time how to handle an ancient, moody vampire so he sighed and sat down on the floor right next to his lover.
“You are in dire need of a good slumber”
“Can’t” The older replied without even taking his eyes off the old, yellow book page.
“Dear, I can sense your energy draining day by day, we all can”
“There’s a new nestling to keep an eye on, Jiminie”
Jimin smiled and kept quiet, fondly looking at his hyung’s everlasting beauty. This man that found him and took care of him, that bit him to release his body from hellish fevers so long ago now was sadly decaying. Jimin lifted up a pale, thin hand and softly caressed Yoongi’s hair, the strands feeling dry and weak between his fingers.
Eternal life comes with it’s requirements as well, they have to feed regularly at least 4 times a week and fall into a repairing sleep every few months. The slumber doesn’t last more than a week, time enough to recover their original beauty and energy but Yoongi was refusing to take his rest just yet, not caring about his weakening hairs and bad mood if it meant to be alert and attentive to take care of Jungkook. Jimin was able to sympathize and that’s why he didn’t argue any further.
Everyone in the clan was overly aware of their surroundings and being extremely careful with Jungkook. Those who are recently turned go through a period of symptoms and stages of weakness as their new body assimilates a new bond, new diet and abilities. Yoongi was, as always taking care of the younger vampires and that made Jimin’s chest swell with love and pride. Yoongi gifted him a gentle hand squeeze, his eyes never straying from the book.
Hoseok sighed as he walked around in circles downstairs sipping from his tall wine glass. The unused kitchen area served only as a huge pantry, equipped with fine china and the proper refrigeration to store all the different types of blood. The vital fluid was good, the best he ever tasted, so he didn’t quite understand how Jungkook was still having trouble to keep it in. He gently swayed the thick, crimson red fluid and watched it turn inside the cup. There was pulling, pulses in the bond, like his soul was tied to 6 other ones through a net, each and every connection rich with pulses of information. The restlessness in his core was annoying at best but still Hoseok knew very well what was Jungkook going through. He remembers his turning like it was yesterday even though a couple of centuries had already passed.
The new bond with Jungkook was hurting, desperately trying to fight the metamorphosis like a living body would fight a disease but that was normal, the new vampire just had to endure and rest. It was the clan's only job to make him feel at home, loved.
Hoseok hungrily gulped down the rest of the blood and licked his lips right after, enjoying the soft, fluttery feeling of euphoria from the first feeding after a day and half. He missed Namjoon dearly, his scent, his sturdy arms, his hugs. He missed making love with him, kissing and enjoying each others company like they used to do.
Namjoon was away visiting his hometown, bringing flowers to his wife and sons as he did every year on their death’s anniversary. The Ilsan graveyard received a very heavy annual donation from him to maintain the small mausoleum, heavily decorated with stones and sculptures of angels. The war took their lives when Namjoon wasn’t home and he came back to a destroyed house and rivers of blood sipping from his loved ones. That same night he was a desperate soul begging his dearest friend Hoseok to turn him into a vampire, to ease him from the terrible pain he was drowning in with a simple bite but turning a man out of desperation was never a good choice. Hoseok gently refused, drying his tears instead offering his human friend to travel the world with him. Years later, when Namjoon started to step into his 30’s the time had arrived for them to accept their unspoken, growing love and the turning happened as natural as it should be.
Hoseok smiled fondly, the memories fresh in his mind as he went up the stairs to check on Jungkook.
The baby vampire was lying down in his four post bed, surrounded by feather pillows, his limp hand tightly held by Seokjin.
“Come here, Hoseok” The elder said gently without having to look back at him. Seokjin sensed that he was coming to see them and was patiently waiting for Hoseok.
Hoseok got closer to the bed, the door heavily closing behind him with only a movement of his hand. He sat on the other side of Jungkook and attentively watched him sleep. His eyelids were fluttery and Hobi pursed his lips in distaste. The nightmares were endless, a new one starting where the other ended. There was nothing else that could be done though, just let him rest the symptoms away.
“The blood is fine hyung-nim. I tasted them all myself. I know that was one of your worries.”
Jin nodded, the sadness visible in his flawless face.
“Thank you love. Our youngest one sure is giving us trouble isn’t he?”
Jin smiled softly as he caressed Jungkook’s cheek with the back of his fingers.
“He is the one, he is our baby, don’t let Yoongi’s dark aura affect you”
Jin lifted up his eyes from Jungkook’s face for the first time and sent his beloved mate a knowing look. Hoseok knew that he was stating the obvious but he was one to prefer the voiced out conversations even if they were able to communicate perfectly through the bond.
“Yoongi has to sleep. No more excuses. Jungkook will get better soon and he needs all of us in our best condition to feel welcomed and accepted. It’s a tremendous change no matter how strong he looked as a human”
Hoseok nodded and directed his eyes at Jungkook again. Seokjin sighed and placed his palms over Jungkook’s face and softly smoothened his hair back efficiently waking him up from his induced nap.
Jungkook gasped and tried to sit up, half confused from his nightmares and half surprised from finding himself in his new bedroom.
“Hyung…!”
“Baby, it’s okay. Just a nightmare” Jin said softly his voice embedded with a calming purpose so powerful that even Hoseok had the sudden urge to lay down and rest. Jungkook closed his eyes and nodded, smiling from relief probably thankful now that his panic was washing away with every second that passed.
“How do you feel?” Seokjin asked, holding both of Jungkook’s hands in his own.
The pup blinked at them and nodded, his expression relaxed.
“I feel better hyung…very hungry”
“Aigoo” Hoseok whispered in awe at his adorable new mate. “Come with me and let’s give it another try Jungkookie, yes?”
“No need to go anywhere dearest” Jimin said stepping into the room with a silver tray in his hands looking pristine and beautiful as always.
“Jimin, what a beautiful sight you are” Jin commented lightly always happy to be surrounded by his mates. On the tray there was a single empty cup and a small porcelain jar full to the brim. Jimin placed it on the nightstand and with a little smile he generously poured the blood onto the glass filling it up to the brim.
Jungkook desperately yanked the cup from his hand before the vampire had the chance to properly offer it to him, a hunger so strong that was eating him inside out. The blood swayed and spilled on the dark blue covers but none of them cared at all. The only priority was Jungkook keeping it in and that was it. In just two loud gulps the youngest drank it all and licked his stained lips with a moan.
“More. Now.” Jungkook demanded, forgetting his honorifics and begging with his huge, beautiful eyes. Hoseok was ready to give him the world.
“No more until you keep it in gorgeous” Jin said with a huge smile, utterly pleased with Jungkook’s hunger and the way he downed his blood. “If you don’t puke in the next two hours I’ll let you drink as much as you want”
“But I…”
“Jungkook are you talking back to me?” Jin asked, the smile on his face now colder, his aura menacing.
Hoseok got up from the bed and exchanged a knowing look with Jimin. Jin had to tame him, to make himself known as the highest rank in the clan. No one talks back to Seokjin except maybe Yoongi but they’ve known each other for the longest time. Jungkook was only on his ninth day as a vampire and he had agreed to come into their lifestyle and to submit to his hyungs.
Yes, they were all completely enamoured by their nestling and Hoseok never heard of Seokjin abusing his authority before but still, it didn’t meant that Jungkook or anyone else was in place to disrespect the others. They use honorifics (or terms of respectful endearment) and are thankful everyday that Seokjin found each of their soulmates and brought them all together into eternal life.
Jimin nodded absolutely agreeing with Hoseok, his hyung thinking way too loudly as always. He crossed his arms and watched as Jungkook’s Adam’s apple bobbed in a fear induced gulp. The boy was dead silent, his senses most likely attacked by the sudden coldness of his strongest mate and the shame of being reprimanded because he ignored rules he promised to follow.
Jungkook sniffed the air and he suppressed a low whine in his throat. He wanted to submit, oh so badly but he still was way too confused about all the changes going on inside and outside his body. A new pack, new dynamics and a completely new set of senses and body was too much to get used to.
“Hyung nim I’m so…” His voice trembled. He was a disappointment. His hyungs were thinking poorly of him and his untamed behavior, they were regretting turning him and inviting him to the nest. He felt ungrateful, the coldness in the air and the looks of Jimin and Hoseok a weight his lungs couldn’t endure.
Jin found in the situation the perfect opportunity to try communicating with only Jungkook through the bond. Their link was the strongest since is was Seokjin the first that turned him and bit him again right after to make him his mate. He stopped emanating his disappointed aura and focused on one single message, one that Jungkook shouldn’t have absolutely no trouble in receiving despite his still developing bonds with the clan.
‘Apologize’ Jungkook gasped and his lower lip trembled. He heard Seokjin's voice in his head loud and clear and his body fell forward in a reverence, acknowledging his mistake and begging for forgiveness.
“I’m sorry…I'm sorry please…”
Jungkook didn’t only say out loud he also kind of yelled it in his core and everyone else got the message loud and clear, he still had to learn how to keep a bond conversation on the private. Seokjin was proud enough not to ask for more than the nestling was prepared to give and he smiled pleased with the youngest submission and his growing senses into the pack.
Everything was going the way it should and nothing else mattered to him. In a swift movement he lifted Jungkook up from his begging position and held his face between his hands.
Yoongi and Taehyung alarmed and curious about Jungkook’s sudden, distressed message had arrived in the room only to find Jungkook sobbing his eyes out desperately trying to cling into Seokjin’s arms.
“I’m…sorry…hyungs…”
Jimin clutched his chest trying to ease the soft pains and he felt Hoseok’s arm come around his waist in comfort. They were all feeling a portion of Jungkook’s sudden dispair.
“Little one… Look into my eyes, do you remember me now?” Jin asked still cradling Jungkook’s weeping face and looking at him like he was the most precious thing in the world. Jungkook choked on his sobs seemingly getting worse by the minute.
‘Focus baby, breathe and focus' Jin told him through the bond pressing his forehead against Jungkook’s.
He felt his body on fire and his eyes burn with his vision going blurry, in and out of focus. He was able to feel Seokjin’s hands grounding him with his touch and his powerful voice a guide through the chaos in his soul. Jungkook tried to breathe in and out, following his hyung’s link, following the natural path the bond was carving inside his heart until he reached an opening, a light.
‘That’s it Jungkookie! Come with us!’
Jungkook now heard multiple voices, his hyung’s voices all six of them calling for him to go through. He wanted to cross over so bad, so bad but he didn’t know how. The pain in his being spiked up to a level were his body was convulsing in a desperate attempt to soothe the ache.
Namjoon arrived to the manor in a hurry and he wasted no time in appearing inside of Jungkook’s room. He got there just in time, it was happening. Jungkook was taking the final step into his new life and into their clan. He stood right next to his beloved mates and together with them they all called Jungkook through their bond. The baby, their missing puzzle piece.
Jungkook coughed and gasped suddenly stilling in Seokjin’s arms.
“Jungkookie?” Jimin asked unable to contain his nerves, one hand on his chest and the other tightly grasping Hoseok’s wrist.
The youngest heaved trying to recover his breath, his head hanging low. Jin effortlessly helped him into a more comfortable position, laying him down against his chest. Jungkook had his eyes closed with a shimmer of sweat convering his pale face.
“He remembers…don’t you Jungkook?”
Namjoon spoke, voice soft with emotion. Finally.
Jungkook opened his eyes and slowly focused on them. Jimin suppressed a gasp, there he was. Jungkook’s eyes now were a deep purple so mesmerizing that Jimin thought he was going weak under his stare. His true soulmate. The last one.
“Hyungs…” The youngest started and they all hurried to the bed, trying to kiss and hug their nestling. Yoongi just smiled and sat closer. Jin giggled full of happiness, he did it. He finally made sure that all his soulmates were going to be together until eternity decides it was enough. No more lives and no more getting lost from each other. No more death.
