Chapter Text
Mina lept from her seat in the common room and sprinted down the hall, tackling Bakugou Katsuki to the ground with a loud thud. Knocking all the air out of his lungs, the pink girl squeezed Bakugou, pulling him to the ground like some sort of hug.
The angry boy attempted to squirm out of her grasp, but Mina just tightened her grip. The two teens laid on the floor of the Heights Alliance. Most of their classmates would have guessed that she had a death wish, but Mina knew that her bestie Blasty McSplode would never hurt her… to some extreme… right?
“Ok, what the fuck, Raccoon Eyes. GET OFF OF ME BEFORE I-”
“Blasty!” Mina covered Bakugou’s mouth before he could go on his rant. Her face practically beaming, she scanned his expression, which was twitching with frustration. Mina sat up a little (still making sure Blasty was tamed) so that she could elaborate. “A little birdie told me that your birthday is coming up, so… I’m going to plan your party! No need to thank me.”
Ashido Mina was a party girl - an extrovert. She knew she was, and it wasn’t something to be ashamed of; the reason she liked them. Mina adored seeing her friends, family (and honestly anyone) cheerful and having a good time. The atmosphere a good party had was impossible to replicate, the laughs and dancing and the mindless chats that were had. Captivating lights, gleaming and sparkling in the room synced with the music that was played in the background. The way her heart swelled with comfort and delight, knowing everyone was ecstatic and upbeat. She loved it.
Therefore she totally knew she’d literally be the best party planner ever! Totally! Name it: party themes, invitations, music, location and most importantly the decorations, she’s got it. Well, she would get it - since she’s never actually planned a party before. This just makes Bakugou’s birthday an opportunity she has to take.
Besides, it’s just a birthday party and she could possibly make King Explosion Murder™ feel emotions of happiness. Two birds with one stone. (Tokoyami takes offense to that saying so it can’t be said with him around)
Mina heard muffled sounds of aggression before realizing that her hand was still over Bakugou’s mouth… oopsie. At that, she decided it was time to let go of the poor boy, and stand up to let him speak. Now on her feet, she watched Bakugou glare at her as he brushed himself off. His eyes were unreadable.
“Ashido.”
“Blasty.”
“Shitty Hair told you, didn’t he?”
“No? Yes? Maybe. Look I-”
“If you so much as tell anyone else that it’s my birthday, let alone plan me a gosh damn party, I will blow your ass up and sell your fucking horns on the black market.”
“But-”
“No.”
“Pleas-” Mina began to plead but was interrupted by a sweaty hand over her face.
“END. OF. DISCUSSION.” He thankfully didn’t explode her face, removing his hand and storming away with his same pouty expression.
You see, Mina never expected Bakugou to agree to her proposal, this is why she had planned this outcome and had her secret weapon…
“Oh- I see then. It’s okay to be afraid of parties Bakugou. I guess I’ll have to wait till someone else's birthday, maybe Midoriya or Todoroki would agree…”
Bakugou had stopped.
BINGO!
Then he shoved his hand in his pocket and brought out his phone, right before shoving it right back and approaching the pink girl again. Yay, it worked!
“Ok Pinky, you got 2 minutes.”
“Bakubro! Ohmigosh thank you, I didn’t actually think you’d agree to be-“ Bakugou began to turn away again. “WAIT! I’m sorry I’ll get to the point. You see, I was talking to Tooru and Kiri and we were discussing our favourite holidays, and I was like, ‘I can’t decide, I love all of them equally’ when Tooru then brought up birthdays and how they were also really fun!”
“Time’s up.” Bakugou rudely remarked, checking his phone again.
“WHAA- Why are you in such a rush anyway Bakugou? I’m trying to help you here.” Mina reached for the same sweaty hand that covered her mouth previously. “Do you really hate your birthday that much?”
“Yes.” Bakugou said, deadpan.
“Why don’t we make a bet then? I get to plan your party, and if you love it (which you definitely will), I get to plan every other party of your life.”
The angry teen looked less angry but more amused, arching his left eyebrow to test Mina. “What’s in it for me?”
“Um...well… I’ll never bug you again?” Mina suggested yet Blasty wasn’t too impressed. “Or-or I can you ten ‘get out of jail free’ cards! And I promise to let you use them anytime.”
Bouncing on one leg, Mina stared at Bakugou with the smiliest face she could put on.
“FUCK! Fine, Raccoon Eyes, plan your god damn party. But I’m not letting you go balls to the wall with it. Only six people, max! And you bet you ass I’ll be checking on what you’re doing.” The boy finally cracked, bringing his hand to her face to try and scare her.
“Don’t worry Bakugou, I’m gonna take this seriously. It’s my first booking! I want a good review.” The flamboyant girl patted his shoulder before taking off.
“Minaaaaaa! Where’d you go?” Returning back to the common room, Tooru was on the carpet scrolling through her phone. Mina kinda forgot that she’d left mid-conversation when she heard Bakugou come in.
Mina let out a big sigh and plopped herself onto the couch, smushing the pillows to her chest (Iida was probably gonna lecture her because she’s done that so many times they were losing shape and fluff).
“Let’s just say that I’ve got my work set out for myself. Now, what were you saying about her Insta?”
