The Concubine Tries to Avoid the Death Flags

Summary:

“I got transmigrated into the game I played and now I am stuck as the villain’s concubine!”

Shang Qinghua transmigrated as the Emperor Mobei-Jun’s concubine, the concubine who mould the emperor as the villain in this convoluted dating sim/turn-based strategy/gacha game. The game was good, he even left the 5/5 rating before he died. It wouldn’t be too much of a big deal if he didn't become the god damn concubine, who only had death flags at every ending possible!

This is Shang Qinghua trying to survive in the world of a weird mix of genre in this stupid dating sim!

Chapter 1: Proud Immortal☆Emperor Way

Chapter Text

Back when he was alive, Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky is a decent streamer who only plays all the masculine games with a little secret: he enjoys playing those dating sim games meant for girls.

In particular, the recent popular game among girls, Proud Immortal☆Emperor Way, becomes an unexpected hit after an almost-bankrupt studio gets a mysterious funding to make this game happen. The promotions were amazing, and the game didn’t oversell itself.

Well, Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky had no intention to play this game, or to stream it to his over-masculine fanbase, thank you very much.

But… but what can he say, this game is… so good!

This is not your ordinary dating sim! First, this game has a mix of gacha elements in it. Not like F◯te Grand Order where you can pull a bunch of characters… no. There were only limited characters, but what you can do is to pull the characters’ outfits, which is similar with F◯te Grand Order when summer edition characters and people go ape shit at some girls in a bikini. In Proud Immortal☆Emperor Way, players go ape shit through the capture targets in suits, where players can pull on outfits for a particular character depending on the current banner. The gacha is also popular because the gacha also added extra voice lines to the character’s voice bank, if you collect all outfits for the character; and girls like to flex on that, apparently.

The pulls allowed you to get various wardrobe and sometimes shards, which you can collect and later on craft as jewelleries you can present to your capture target, thereby aiding your journey on capturing a target. The outfit itself can increase the character’s likeability and also function for stats increment which will help during battles.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this game has a battle system.

The battle system uses the typical turn-based strategy system. Intuitive, easy to understand, and if you’re fine with waiting a little, you can also upgrade the skills too. Some endings can depend on these battle outcomes and how long you’d take on crucial key events. So grinding to increase your level or max out the player character’s and Luo Binghe’s skills were the first option. Side quests to increase these criteria also solid 5 out of 5 too. Battle system is overall great!

Not to mention that the characters are all peerless beauty! The game wouldn’t be popular if the characters are all not dudes with beautiful features. Even the default character as the player’s avatar has a lot of customisation… the gender is even ambiguous too. Free real estate. But the most handsome one is, of course, the villainous emperor! So handsome, ah! Too handsome!

All is well in this game… except the part where he transmigrated as the accursed villainous concubine!

Which brought Shang Qinghua to the only issue he had with the story…

Okay, don’t get him wrong, the storyline has a lot of potential! But as he said, potentials! The world-building and everything else in premise sounded awesome, there are character databases for each character and NPCs, but… it was obvious the developer focuses too much on Luo Binghe!

The story only revolves about the player and Luo Binghe only! There were no adequate background character descriptions, supporting characters only come and go with little-to-no impression, despite they could have added more decent background to it!

This game… too many investments wasted! All the great concept, solid play through, but they lost the details! What kind of crazy story writer that still got paid for this kind of story? Trainwreck!

The story makes Mobei-Jun into some kind of flat, 2D archetype villain. What injustice was this! How come we knew everything about Luo Binghe, blessed with such a perfect character, but not the environment?! What drives the emperor’s motive, hah?! It makes little sense now that he finishes every route! It baffled him because other capture targets became so shallow when compared to the filling story of Luo Binghe!

Most of all, it makes Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky frustrated because he transmigrated to this darn concubine! No clear backstory for the concubine, most come out of fans’ speculation! Damn, at least there should be some important information, but nothing in the character description except for ‘some says the concubine…’ and more ‘some also says that the concubine…’ so the side characters shrouded in mystery and no clear background.

“God damn it!”

But this damn concubine has a dick! The Concubine! Has a dick! Shows how the developers really give no shit in character building except for Luo Binghe!

(Don’t get him wrong, Luo Binghe is a nice character, but please spare some effort for some other characters too!)

There must be something that makes this awful Shang Qinghua, the emperor’s concubine, has a dick, and he had no clue why.

But there must be something. Before his death in the previous life, Shang Qinghua remembered the devs released the news that there will be expansion stories for some notable background characters, including this concubine that apparently has a dick. Which he had to highlight for FOUR TIMES because not even the crucial explanation of the concubine's GENITALIA is mentioned on the character bio! It would have explained his motive so, so much! Well, if there is any.

Still, Shang Qinghua believed that… This… there must be some kind of explanation. There must be.

Or there may not be.

Because this concubine will die in any routes possible. Shang Qinghua played the game a lot of times, making sure he accounted for every detail, he had done everything because of sheer curiosity. Whatever the main character did, or whoever the main character chose, somehow this concubine was always dead.

In a way, Shang Qinghua was already set to his second death, full of misery.

Should he just accept his fate and let death be his only mercy?

As he lamented his sealed fate, Shang Qinghua heard the slides coming from his door. There is only one person who will not bother to knock on the door or ask for permission before coming in. Shang Qinghua didn’t need to look back to stare. No guesses needed, because there will only be one person who would do that.

That one person was the Emperor himself, the main villain of this story, one of the possible capture targets.

“Shang Qinghua, we need to talk.”

He.

Oh.

Oh goodness.

Okay nevermind Shang Qinghua doesn’t want to die.
