It’s sometime in January when Gyeoul has dinner with the Lacking 5 for the first time. Clearly nervous, Jeongwon begins to prep her, saying things like “They’re nutjobs, but they’ll be nice to you,” and “Besides, you already know Ik-jun.” Gyeoul really just wants to eat. She’s had two surgeries today and only had one cup of ramyeon in between those surgeries. But Jeongwon’s wiping down the table for the third time, so she’ll let him keep talking.
He’s in the middle of explaining how the five of them met (not knowing the existence of Dr. Bong’s gossip salon) when the four remaining band members enter the restaurant. Dr. Lee sits down in front of her - all energy and verve. Dr. Chae sits to his left and Dr. Yang to his right. Lastly, Dr. Kim sits next to her on the left.
Immediately after Gyeoul greets them and they all sit down, Dr. Kim asks who’s paying. There’s mild disappointment at the table when Jeongwon says he’s treating them. Dr. Lee begins the conversation with the weather.
“Aye, it’s been so chilly lately. We’ll probably have a long winter this year. Wouldn’t you like that Jeongwon? Wouldn’t you like a long winter ?”
Songhwa tries to hide her smile behind her glass of water. Jeongwon, whose tablecloth is pretty much a collection of threads at this point, tries to get Ik-Jun to stop. Of course, this begins a yelling match as Ik-Jun continues to tease Jeongwon.
Dr. Kim mutters to her, “Ignore them. They do this sometimes,” as Dr. Yang picks up his phone and starts speaking to his mother.
. . .
When the food is ready, Ik-Jun places a bowl of meat in front of her. As she looks at him in surprise, he says, “I know that Jeongwon is number one in your heart, but please consider me number one when choosing surgeries.” This of course, leads to another yelling match between Jeongwon and Ik-Jun.
